First Premier didn't approve CLI :/

So I got a letter in the mail today from Centennial credit card issued by First Premier stating they can't approve my CLI due to:

"Your account hasn't been open for a sufficient time period"

How much time is sufficient for them?

I've had them for about 1 year already.

Does anyone know if they do a hard pull or even check your cc score for CLI's?

I haven't received a credit alert for new inquiries from them.

How soon should I request a CLI again?

Thanks!

Re: First Premier didn't approve CLI :/

I'm not sure how long it takes for them to consider your membership with them as an account holder sufficient. But one piece of advice I will give to you is to look for your credit profile to grow elsewhere. First Premier is a rip off. They are good to get your credit back re-established if "Like me" you were at some point desperate to take whatever major credit card anyone would offer just to get started. Had I known then, what I know now, I would've gotten a secured card through my credit union and later worked on getting an unsecured card once the 1 year mark was up. Just my thoughts.

This might be a sign that you should consider closing the card out.   Based on your siggy it looks like you have at least 6 other CCs.....

They want you to have to account open for 13 months that way they have you suckered in for monthly fee + AF + CLI Fee.

Don't do it!! Close it right before 12th month!

What?????

That is ridiculous, I'd close that card ASAP, as much as I despise Cap1, I'd recommend looking to them for rebuilding, they do not give CLI's normally either, and they usually pull all three CRA's, but at least Cap1 does not rip you off like FP or Orchard.

Best of Luck.

Re: First Premier didn't approve CLI :/

Hi everyone & Thanks!!!

I have heard many bad comments about First Premier but they gave me a chance when no one else would approve me. I was hesitant about getting a secured card they offered me and declined. Then I tried about 6 months later and approved for for an unsecured card which I jumped at the chance. This was my first rebuilder card which then led to Orchard and Credit One to accept me.

Through out the years no retail store wanted to approve me and now they did. All my retail cards are about 2-3 weeks. I was on an application frenzy. I know I know I went a little crazy and applied for like 10 cc but I was instantly approved for about 5 retail cards in 1 day and still awaiting response from the others. I'm not planning on getting new credit cards within 1-2 yrs.

My original question: Do they do a hard pull for a CLI??

Thanks again!

Re: First Premier didn't approve CLI :/

I know, their fees are horrible but if that's the cost I have to pay to prove myself worthy of credit again then I will have to pay :/
