Re: First Progress

Ive never had an experience with First Progress but I had this happen when I used checks back in the day before online payment existed with one of my CC payments. Did they say they lost the payment entirely? I was lucky in that they cashed the payment so I was able to send the actual check and they were then able to credit my account. Also, if it was overnighted you should have some proof of signature of some sort-if they said they lost it entirely, I'd start there to show something was sent and hopefully they will then work with you to resolve your current situation. As the other posted person suggested-if online payment is an option-I'd use that from now on.

Re: First Progress

@shaun2009 - it happens. It's human error where in my situation the payment was said to not have been received but it was actually posted to another account. When I gave them a copy of the cashed check, they fixed it.

You're lucky this has never happened to you.

Re: First Progress

@shaun2009-mine unfortunately happened with an entirely different creditor. So it can really happen to anyone with any creditor, that's why record keeping is so very important and why online bill payment is much more helpful in avoiding errors.

When I closed my account with cap 1, which had an annual fee, I closed it right after the last statement closed prior to the month the fee would be charged. Although i had mine for over a year, I too wanted every benefit of the reporting before I started to get charged for it. I however didn't realize what I was doing at that point so I would have never kept it open for as long as I had if I known about this forum earlier on. If you don't use it and don't need the utilization, etc.
I believe consensus is to close the cards with a fee.

Re: First Progress

Yea i dont need it i would like to increase the limit on it so it looks like i had a higher limit card reporting for a year but sad thing is i dont want to because First Progress once u close your acct out they take a min of 3 months to return funds up to 5 months which is totaly bull**** but hey....

Re: First Progress

I opened a First Progress (secured) card in January 2013.  I have had numerous issues with it.  The card was open for 3 months when I received a letter listing the couple charges I made that month stating that they were 'fraudulent' and stating that I wouldn't be charged for them and they would close the account.  None of these charges were actually fraudulent, so I had to spend 3 months getting my account reinstated.  Once it was reinstated, I received the June statement as usual, then stopped receiving statements entirely and had to call in towards the end of the month to get the balance due etc.  This is fine, however, they never began reporting to the bureaus once the card was re-instated after the non-existant 'fraud.'  So now on my reports it lists the card has open for 3 months then closed, or it doesn't list it at all.  Meanwhile i'm also locked out of their online banking, so I can't download the statements to send to the bureaus to have the card added and they won't send them to me otherwise...

This has been a complete and utter hassle with this card from the beginning.   I am contemplating just simply closing the card all together (and hoping that it just keeps not showing up on the reports!)  I do not recommend this card at all.
