No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
First Progress is easy to acquire and there is a reason this is true. They are quick to approve you and take your $300 in return for a promise of a credit card. Before you get a card or any correspondence you will incur charges and late fees. Long story short: your credit score will drop 50 to 60 points by the time they run you around and try to get more. I will not accept being scammed without a fight!

Never had an issue with Synovus on startup. I used this card prior to them being "semi popular," and the only issue I had was having to call them twice to cancel card, and establish refund check delivery.
OP, how did you fund your deposit?
edit: just to add, most of the complaints are T&C non readers, that don't think an AF is due if the card's not activated. Which isn't the case.
That would be too easy. I have had many conversations with this bunch. Still $300 short and 40 points down.
Burned...
I used a debit card to fund the $300. I found out about the charges through FICO long before I was able to get in touch with 1st Progress and notify them that I hadn't received a card and that I expected the late charges to be removed.
Space...
I requested that they take our relationship back to 0. That they should cancel the card; send me my $300; and remove ALL from my credit report. So far, they've sent me a letter stating that they've honored my request by cancelling the card, but no refund and no credit report change.
Drowningduck is 100 % correct, further more, these are the things they don't tell you: 1- First Progess charges you $10.00 to pay over the phone," yes" they charge you to pay your credit card bill. 2- You need to use your bank's online payment to pay them why,ask them? 3-They don't accept your check "directly online" 4- NO WesternUnion only Moneygram. 5-- Your payment will take up to 10 business days to clear. 5-Future creditor's will ask why do(did) you have such an account in your credit history , Did you have credit problems in the past? Even if you are able to delete the "baddies" , the infection is there. Is like someone asking you, " Did you live in the guetto? based on your credit history.

I had this card before it took off.
I used their own billpay tied to account online, with my bank routing, and account info hand typed each time I made a payment.
Never talked to a live person until the day I closed it.
Expected payments to delay, as it's a secured card, so why let someone double charge, before the payment is "clear," teaching financial responsibility by learing to watch accounts? Never took more than 7 days for me, BTW.
Infection? Didn't report secured for me, and was listed as Synovus corp on my CRA's.
