From what I remember, First Tech Credit Union is all about that annual income. They kind of cater to high income members, which probably explains the really high credit limits on those cards. One of the very few Mastercards available in the US that can be had in true Chip + PIN.

If your total CL across all cards is greater than about $200-250K you're outside of their target demographic and being approved for membership is tough.

Interesting, I didn't have an issue getting a card there a few years ago (2017) for C+P MasterCard for the win.

My own travel plans got cut short in a hurry when the company stopped their overseas office openings and I didn't make it to Europe anyway, but FirstTech for me has always been easy and fast and I like their UI, definitely one of the more modern CUs from a technology standpoint.

That said I went with their no frills card, I have no need for that size tradeline (think UNFCU offered up to 100k back in the day too) but I did max out their UW both in limit and APR.

Here's a DP from a thread that was updated with outcome 2 days after I made my previous comment.  Cliff notes version is that OP has ~$500K aggregate CL across all lines and was sent a preapproval notice. OP went ahead and applied and was denied due to excessive available credit.

...and they do require POI on CC apps.

Good to know. By the time I'm ready to apply (INQ all dropped off) I'll have 0% util as well. I am curious how high they go in terms of CL vs. income if anyone knows or has a data point (the word anecdote is so diminutive).

First year free as well. For a $100k limit, it's not bad in my opinion..just for the fun of having a high limit haha

But what do you do with a high limit?

a) Whenever you use the card:   "What's that I owe?  $34.54?   Ha, I don't think that will be a  problem, this card has a $100K limit!"

b) Online/paper: stare with love at the $100K limit

c) rejoice in the low util caused partly by the card....

Something is wrong with a picture when you advertise the potential of a $100K credit limit yet make it almost impossible for someone with a demonstrated ability to manage cards with limits in that range to actually become eligible to apply for it.

You forgot

d) cry, scream and pout then post threads about how horrible the lender is when they close/lower the limit because all you used it for was the occasional $34.54 purchase

Haha, of course! I personally wouldn't accept it. I'll stick with up to 30k limits on cards with great benefits!

Man, yeah. What would you do with a limit like that?

Could you buy a car with cash using it? Do dealerships count as travel? Likely not, but say you bought a new Tesla model S, that'd be a tidy $2,100 in rewards lol
