First Time Cracking 700 (and confused)

I've recently paid off most of my credit cards and have been monitoring my TrueCredit and Fico scores closely. Experian FAKO actually went down 22 points after a credit card reported a 0 balance which previously reported an $1800 balance. Score dropped from 704 to 682. At that point I had to check my Fico and the score went up from 695 to 723. My first time in the 700 club. Now, being **bleep** retentive, MyFico still tells me I'm below average and I'm temporaririly bummed out, but I'm getting over it. In the next 10-15 day's my other credit cards should be reporting 0 balances and hopefully scores will keep going up.

Thanks to this site I'm moving upward and I appreciate everyone's advice.

  • Higher scores are better scores
  • The higher your score, the more favorably lenders look upon you as a credit risk

Perhaps with the implementation of FICO08, there will be a re-alignment in the scoring, as to what comprises bad, fair, good, excellent credit. and that silly credit-o-meter. lol

Re: First Time Cracking 700 (and confused)

Thanks. It is irritating that it's still considered below average according to their charts, and to me it's like reaching the top of Mt. Everest!
More exciting news for me: over the last few weeks I've gotten 2 BOA pre-approvals, but when visiting their web-site for pre-approvals it kept saying sorry, no offers for you. Today, 3 offers--BOA/AMEX, Visa Platinum Plus and a Rewards Visa. Credit Line = $3,500. I'm assuming they're checking my recently updated Experian report because it's the only one to list my new address and I was prompted to verify my address before the offers appeared.

Now I'm going to wait a few weeks to see if my score goes higher after my next 5 cards report 0 balances. I'm getting cocky and thinking maybe 750+!!!

Thanks again for all of your help and encouragement.
