Thanks for the input and response!

I am looking at gold/plat charge cards, not co-branded. I currently have gold 75k status with Alaska and don't plan on changing airlines any time soon.

As for using, I am traveling over 40% of the time even in this current pandemic and usually average between 60% - 75% in a normal setting. I would look to the Platinum for all of my flight/hotel expenses and the gold for all things dining and my everyday shopping when home. Outside of work expenses, I currently spend roughly $4.5k / mo on variable expenses that are just being put on a debit card. I am getting no reward for the swipe, hence my browsing for something that will pay me back!

That makes a lot of sense for your spend patterns. I would consider whether or not 3x MR earn on all travel (hotel, rental cars, flights, ride shares, transit, trains) using AMEX Green beats 5x earn on flights, 1x hotels, more lounge access and credits plus the increased AMEX Platinum sign up bonus/annual fee for your spend patterns. You're also someone who is likely helped by CLEAR- AMEX Green rebates $100 off a CLEAR membership (and you can use Delta/United basic FF memberships to knock it down to a $19 fee in conjunction with AMEX Green).

Also, @K-in-Boston's point on hotel cards is very well taken, even if he may be off base in suggesting Delta SkyPesos over Alaska Mileage Plan for you. Smiley Wink If you're on the road that much and you've got a good natural travel pattern hotel status as a result, the cobrand card becomes a no-brainer for that spend. If Hilton or Marriott are those chains, you don't have to even leave AMEX. If by some chance you really don't want to do the hotel co-brand card for reasons (you really can't get really good top tier hotel chain status), the AMEX Green probably becomes more important since it's an "all-rounder" (I might argue that 3x MR beats cobrand card earning if you're not going to hold good hotel status because you just spread your action around too much).
