All, I just noticed on the website in my account under my name it says:
CARD MEMBER SINCE 1983
Wow I haven't even requested the back dating. Does this mean all I need to do is ask them to send new cards with the correct MSD? Will they report to the agencies 1983? this will really help my AAoA. I was thinking it was 1980 but I will not argue the facts. I will have two cards reporting 31 years!

Yes, as baller4life says, that is the date that should report. (To be extra safe, I would check your reports after two months or so, just to confirm, but the usual rule is what is shown on the website is what reports).
For me, I don't bother having the card updated if Amex gets the date wrong (not sure I would want to know someone who was impressed by the MSD on my card!) but some people do.

Agreed it's a vanity thing. It all spends the same... Thanks, B
