Following the Board advice - increasing CLIs

Those that have read my posts will know I have very few CCs, and don't want to apply for any more, but that I do want CLIs to improve everything in general.  My plan was to wait until my newest (Juniper) card was a year old and apply for a CLI (current  $7,500 CL, TU pull), and use that to push Chase ($2,000 CL, EQ pull) to a raise in my CL and in both cases to push for a drop in APR.  That would be a TU and an hard EQ pull

So today I noticed today that all my inqus had aged off from EQ, so I pulled my score and it was 799 and I thought "Hmmmmmmm".

So I checked out my lowest and oldest card, from my Credit Union (13.9%, 2 years 11 months old, $1,500 CL) and saw they has a better card - no AF, <10% APR, and I know they pull EQ.

So I called and asked if I could transfer.  They said yes, but it had a minimum $2,000 CL.  So I went into the spiel I learned here about beating other cards for APR, getting a limit higher than my other cards etc, etc, and she said "Well why don't I just see how high I cam make the CL?"

I said fine.

4 hours later she called - approved, new CL of $10,000.  A 70% increase in total available limit  Smiley Happy

The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Following the Board avive - increasing CLIs

Congrats!

I asked Exxon over the wekend and they gave me a 230% increase.  In six months I will ask for another(double up then).  I am actually tracking when I ask and how much I get -- so I can work this next year on CLIs rather than new cards to gain credit increases.
