For those of you having difficulty getting approved

try creditonebank.com. I have about the worst credit i've seen on here with over 100 lates, 7-8 paid chargeoffs and more paid collections than i care to count. My FICO's are probably in the low to mid 500's at this point and I was approved. The fees aren't outrageous, about 75 initially, and 5.75 a month after. 23% is what I got. I don't know the limit but the lowest they offer is 200. Give it a shot. Its not the greatest card out there but you have to start somewhere.

Re: For those of you having difficulty getting approved

A family member received a CreditOne pre-app. After she looked at it she let me look at it. It seems to me that this is a decent card for people with bad credit, and who want to start anew. IMO it's a better option than First Premier, and Applied Bank. Perhaps Orchard too, but I know little or nothing about them.

CreditOne's fees aren't that outrageous for a starter/rebuilder card.

i think its definitely a better option than First Premier, i refuse to apply for a $300 card with $275 in fees on it right off the bat.

Re: For those of you having difficulty getting approved

I actually have this card.  I got it in 2001 when my credit was the worst ever!  I know some people have complained about them but my experience with them has been decent.  I have never had a problem with the card.  Actually it has been better to me than Orchard ever was.  My Orchard cl is only at 600 and with this card I  have 2000cl.  I rarely use it since my credit has improved and I have more prime cards with better APRs but I hang on to it since I have had it for 7 years.

Re: For those of you having difficulty getting approved

They charge the AF in monthly increments so you can't just forget about it. Biggest problem I have with them is a 7.95 "direct payment fee" if you pay online. That is on top of the 5.95 AF payment. They require a lot of work for an account I don't use but gave me a starting 2,000 CL when my scores were really low. They will be the first to be replaced. Still, they have a place in the world and they seem to report accurately.

What was your starting CL?

Re: For those of you having difficulty getting approved

My starting cl was $200.  My score when I first got the card was 476.  My credit was so bad.  Like the other poster the AF is a pain and the amount they charge to pay online is also a big negative with this card.

Re: For those of you having difficulty getting approved

To echo some other comments, Credit One was my first card approval in over 7 years and five years after I closed my last cc. Ironically, it came as a preapproval. They advertised up to a $1k limit and the fees were high. But after the first month, they gave an auto CLI giving a CL of $300 in total.

They are a good stepping stone. Would not recommend for long-term use, but gets the foot in the door for future CC deals.

Re: For those of you having difficulty getting approved

I got the credit one card back in Aug 07.  When I applied they said 300 CL and 69 account charge and 5.75 a month AF.  When the card came in (it took 3-4 weeks to get the card) the CL was 600 and they dropped the account charge from 69 to 39 and still 5.75 a month AF and a 18.9 apr.  No CLi's for me either, yet.  I tried after 3 months, they sent me a letter saying the account had to be open 6 months for a CLI.  I waited til it was open for 6 months and tried again and got a letter saying the account had to be open 12 months for a CLI....lol.  I called and asked them which one was it, they said 6 months and put me in for a manual review...I have yet to hear back from them....

Re: For those of you having difficulty getting approved

Saedra,
You say that you have had this card since 2001, do they eventually stop charging the $5.75 annual monthly fee?  If so, when do you recommend I ask for this?  I have had my card for about 1 year now, and have recently gotten my first automated CLI.  I would like to keep for account history, but I will have to close eventually due to the fees.  Let me know if you have any suggestions.
