Asking for an answer from those who are under 5/24 excludes a large number of posters on this board and their experiences with Chase cards. Posters who are under 5/24 are not a large demographic group on this forum where question is being posed. Eliminating their answers is counterintuitive. So would be limiting to answers from those who are over 5/24. Of course, I'm working on assumption that OP is asking for advice
With that said, I prefer a personal experiences, even if they are subjective. I have enough working gray matter to be able to extrapolate what I need from those compared to reading on card peddling websites or card peddling blogs.
Ill formed questions usually do not result in best possible answers
I've read threads like this before,....
UPDATE: Nevermind. Missed OP's response.
I'm not under 5/24, but I'm breaking the rules and responding.
I used to have a CFU, but it wasn't anything special if you ask me. Personally I don't mind if I don't ever get another Chase card. There isn't anything in the Chase lineup that I can't get somewhere else.
@FinStar When you say all, does that include Starbucks card 😮
Interesting question and one I actively think about. I am under 5/24, and so is every other adult in my family. For those who are under 5/24 and interested in Chase cards this question likely gets more rigorous pondering and leads to more imminent action plans, therefore I can certainly see why the question is framed the way it is.
My Chase goal cards would be:
CF
CIC
CIU or CFU
CIP or CSR (I go back and forth a lot between these two)
So far I have acquired CIC and am currently working on CIU and CIP for myself and DH. I have a tentative plan that takes SUBs, referral bonuses, benefits and AFs all into consideration. Velocity is set to one Chase card every 3 months between the 2 of us. Hopefully nice and slow enough.
While we build Chase portfolios I won't object to adding another “stealth” card or two along the way. By stealth, I mean business cards that do not report to personal credit bureaus, and preferably Amex for me because of possible SP approvals.
1/24 and if I were to get in with Chase I would get the standard trifecta first. Freedom, Freedom unlimited and Reserve. Easy to use and maintain.
However what's fun in that without going after subs? The Prefered only makes sense if you like the SUB and do transfers. The Ink Preferred is better in everyway if you have a business or a "business".
