For those who couldn't get into USAA

Just FYI... I know some people have posted here about "missing the window" for USAA eligibility, and therefore losing out on their credit card products.

As of today, they have a much wider window of eligibility, including ANY retiree of the military, discharged after 1996, or widows of military.

What is required to get in? I have had USAA car insurance for the last nine years. I was not in the military, but my father and grandfather both were and they have USAA as well.

If you've had insurance, that might be enough. Just call and ask --they're very helpful.


Who is Eligible?

Membership is open to:

* Children of USAA members.
* Active-duty officers and enlisted personnel.
* National Guard and Selected Reserve officers and enlisted personnel.
* Officer candidates in commissioning programs (Academy, ROTC, OCS/OTS).
* Former military personnel:
o Retired officers and enlisted personnel.
o Former officers and enlisted personnel who separated on or after 01/01/1996.
* Former USAA members who had auto or property insurance.

My grandfather was a retired Major (career Army), and my mother lived and went to Army base schools worldwide.

When I came to this forum and first heard of USAA I called her because she always told me that's who her insurance was through.
