I applied, and was approved for, an AmEx EveryDay last Wednesday.
The only two cards I want, and see myself wanting for the forseeable future, are the Chase Freedom and CSP. I figured I'd apply for the Freedom first, and then let my scores improve enough for the CSP. If you were in my shoes, when would you apply for them?
I'm torn between just going ahead and applying for the Freedom and waiting six months for better terms/CL as I've read Chase is difficult to get a lower APR. I very, very rarely carry a balance, but I'd like a card with a reasonable enough APR for the option to carry, as who knows what my financial situation will be in two years? Anything could happen.
I have 16 INQ on Equifax, and probably 14 on Experian. Half of these will fall off by October, as they were autoloan related.

i would go with freedom first till you get your scores up an bit thats an lot of HP you have taken for the car loan. Just keep UR in your freedom account till you can go for CSP probably later in the year or early next year.
It was a lot. Buying that car was humiliating.
My credit score at the time was 592 (I had no idea) and the dealer exhausted all of his financing partners, getting denials at all of them. I had to drive to a local Wells Fargo to apply, only to be rejected, and after then going home and copying my tax returns/bank statements, I finally got a loan @ 14%. So much has changed, thank god.

I guess at least you got the loan which is good part just need to maybe garden it up an bit and let those HP age.
OP, congratulations on the $5k ED.
That high of a starting limit with AMEX indicates to me you should be fine to go for the Freedom now.
You may not get it, but you have a good chance, and will know for sure only if you app.
Good luck!
jdt, be sure to try the Chase pre-qualifier before you app if you're uncertain. It's usually pretty spot on.
i was always turned down over the years for a chase card but last week after my boa grad i said wth and went for the freedom expecting denial as usual but came back as approved for 1.5k and 22 per apr not the best but hey im in. my inqs are almost 30 on each report. i have 11 baddies that all fall off by november this year. and my scores are a lil less then yours. i think i got very very lucky.
Just applied. Got 7-10 day message.
recon and explain the car inqs. and then recon again and again
I received the 7-10 day message too, called them 4 hours later via the backline and was told it was approved for $7000.
