If Chase would do anything about my spending $1500 reloading my Amazon gift card, then their card would stop being used by me. Frankly it hasn't been very useful to me lately, and Discover upped its game so much recently, that I didn't have any use for the card all year. I think I spent $30 this quarter just to make sure the card had some activity this year, and now that they gave a belated 10% I finally have a real reason to use it.
Take away my reason to use it, and I would no longer care what happened to that card. Simple as that.

Since sales tax is 9.6 where I live, it's like getting items sales tax free. I do purchase food items through subscribe and save, and some honey that is better and cheaper than grocery store, so will buy a few months of gift cards for those.
Ya my tax here is 9.7 or 9.8 percent from amazon as well, crazy! I try to buy stuff fullfilled by amazon if same price as your avoid sales tax this way, but most stuff it works out just buying from amazon.
Amazon now has agreements with several states to collect sales tax, including mine (MA) and this makes it slightly less attractive than smaller online vendors. But, habits die hard so I tend to still check Amazon first!
They always collected sales tax, including books, in my state. Since 2010. I use because prices lower, or convenience of delivering 40 lbs of cat litter.
I usually buy amazon gift cards with my freedom each year and never had a problem. I buy them for gifts for the family, but then again I don't usually spend the full 1.5k on amazon. In the end since its capped I doubt they care but I would break it up into three smaller transactions.
