Freedom and Zync APPROVED!!

I'm so ecstatic right now!!

So after cleaning up a few collections from my EQ and EX reports (still waiting on TU to remove the final collection that EQ and EX has already removed), I decided to take a stab at applying for the Zync.  I was majorly apprehensive because that was my first time trying at a prime (BofA, whom I have my mortgage and accounts through, denied me for their cash rewards and countered their 99/500 cash rewards).

I was approved for the Zync, NPSL....and it felt awesome.  I spent some time this weekend reading more posts, and decided to pull the trigger for Chase.  My husband and I just got a second vehicle at the beginning of the month, and I already have a fairly new mortgage, so I decided I should go ahead and app now to let my accounts and inquiries age together.  I immediately got the 10-day message and felt bummed.

Because of the car purchase, I thought that inquiries would be one of the reasons for the message (and probable denial), so I called in about an hour or so later.  A very nice gentleman confirmed my fears - that I'd been turned down for excessive inquiries.  He then said that they appeared to be all from auto pulls, so he put me on hold to review my file. He mentioned two lates for my student loans that were from 2006, and said 'honestly, that's almost expected nowadays, and it's pretty old, so hold on again".   He came back and asked about the 2 30-day lates (one from an old auto loan that the car dealership took their time sending in my payoff, and the other from when I requested a change in my due date on my previous auto, and missed by 2 days).  I explained these, and he then put me back on hold.  He then told me that some information needed to be verified and transferred me.  Yet another very nice lady asked some credit-specific questions and some income questions, and then she sang to me "congraulations...you're approved with a CL of $1500"!!

I was beside myself.  Although I'm collection-free, I have really been seeing my score stagnant because of those 2-lates, and the student loans.  My biggest limit before the Zync and the Freedom was my $700 Walmart card.  Besides that, I have a $350 First premier (which will now be closed) and a $250 Victorias Secret card.

I'd like to get a Lowe's card due to my recent home purchase and then to the garden I go until I can PC my Zync.  I was tempted to go ahead for the Discover More before I pick up my shovel and weed eater, but am afraid to since the last collection that was removed from EQ and EX is still showing for some reason on my TU.

This board rocks!!

CONGRATS!!!

You may want to hold off for at least 6 months before going for Lowes, GE can get skiddish about recent INQ's.

Rats!!! And to think I had lots of things I want to do around my house. Should I go ahead and try for Discover or are they inquiry-sensitive also?

Either way I'm so happy my diligence is finally paying off and I'm slowly making my way to some nice cards.

Don't get me wrong you can still go for them but the chances of them declining for recent INQ's are there. It's a YMMV situation. I was approved for AMEX Zync and Discover More then 3 days later got Lowes and Amazon, in the past GE has declined me for INQ's (but I have 6 accounts with them lol)

If I were you I would pick between the 2 and do 1 more then wait it out for a bit for the other.

Re: Freedom and Zync APPROVED!!

Sounds like a plan! I think I'll see if the last $41 collection that still hasn't dropped from TU will drop in a week or so and then try, as I think both of them pull TU.

I would definitely wait for the last baddie to go before going for it. IMO i'd go for Lowes for the financing offers.
