Funeral has been planned, hosted and it's over.

As my previous post, I had funeral for my Credit One Bank card. Today, I had to make other new funeral for my Captial One Plantium. 3rd Funeral has be set in March 2020 for the Captial One Quicksilver card.

I am happy with my Discover, Macy's Amex and Jetblue MC, alltogether I'm at 25k. That is all I need.

Have a great weekend!

I would've kept the Quicksilver card, and if it were a Quicksilver One, try to convert it to a Quicksilver or a Savor One. You have mostly DISCOVER and Amex, not widely accepted everywhere. The JetBlue works, but a Visa or another Mastercard would be better.

We all probably said that at the beginning. Smiley Happy

Congrats on moving on from that necessary evil Credit One!

Maybe compliment your wallet with the PayPal MC? It's 2% everywhere AND it's a highly accepted network. Not only that but you can actually get CLIs fairly well with improved scores.

Congrats on closing the Credit One account.

I also would keep the Capital One Quicksilver. If it has an AF try to get that removed, but keep it a while longer even with AF.

As noted Discover and AMEX have limits to which merchants accept them. You need MC or VISA as backup.  The JetBlue is issued by Barclays, and while your limited card wallet is preferred by the jealous Barclays, there’s no sense giving up your true backup card which is the QS.

@IrishGuy77 - Congratulations on right-sizing your wallet. I'd really love to get down to 5 cards or less but I still have a ways to go.

On the comments suggesting that limiting your wallet to Discover/AMEX is risky due to merchant acceptance, your shopping habits may be different than others. Approximately 90% of my purchases go on Amex. The only places where I can recall having an issue using AMEX or it was explicitedly not accepted was vending machines and a few medical facilities. With many small businesses moving to Square, IME there is less restriction on credit card type.

True, but I've run into situations that were not planned where I offered to use Amex or DISCOVER and they said sorry we don't accept that card. No problem, I had Visa and Mastercard. Its those unexpected situations that can be an issue, especially when your backup Mastercard isn't something you want to use.

Congratulations! No point of keeping cards you don't use. Impact on credit score seems to be almost always overblown.

This year I closed two of my oldest accounts Wells Fargo and Chase Amazon. Neither one allowed product change. Next year I'm about to close two more cards and consolidate myself even more.
