Re: GE CLI is just like clockwork :D!!

I have a Walmart Card and I started with a $400 CL.  I wasn't using the card so, I requested that the limit be decreased.  I requested the decrease in February of this year and now I am interested in raising the limit again.  I hit the LUV button about a week ago and I was denied.  Does anyone have any advice for me?

I understand you were just doing what seemed right at the time and have made my share of mistakes along the way to be sure- but that's a major no-no!  Do not ever again request a CLD on any card simply because you are not using it, instead- use it for a small purchase on a semi-regular basis and PIF.

Requesting a CLD can only damage your standing and credit profile; nothing good can come of it with respect to FICO scoring.

Remember a lender would have no choice but to assume the card holder can't handle the assigned CL if they proactively request AA on the acct.  So then, if/when in the furture an increase is requested that may be viewed as sending mixed signals to the lender.  Lenders are at their core risk adverse and unwilling in general to take chances on card holders who show an inability to handle the credit they have been granted.

Try using the account and PIF for the next few statement periods to be in a better position to receive an increase upon request within the next few months.

Thank you very much for the advice.  Hopefully they will still give me an increase in the next couple of months.

Best of luck going forward!  btw also doing what you can to push up FICOS to >620, may also favorably impact their response, if am not mistaken GEMB primarily refers to EQ for CLIs.
