I hear that they are they best for CLI's however that's not the case for me. WTH?
I've had a Gap card with a $200 CL since April of this year. Always PIF and I don't use much each time. Well not that you could with a $200 CL.
I have a Walmart card with them as well for $700 since June always PIF
I have a JC Penny's card with them for $300 since June always PIF
When do I get CLI's?
Log into your accounts and request them. Usually after every 4th statement cuts you can request a CLI.
With the GEMB card that I have it was around 6 months when they increased it. Creditors want to see how you manage your credit. I would say six months is a minimum could be longer in todays world..
I'll give it more time. Quick question. If a statement only cuts each month that you use the card do you wait for 6 statements? Or for 6 months? There are some months that I made no purchases so does that month not count without a statement?
What I have read on here, GEMB gives a pretty good auto or manual cli after 6 months. Then after the first cli you can ask for one every 4th statement. Then you may only get from $75-$125 cli after every 4th statment this adds up over time.
From I've read and experienced firsthand, GEMB gives CLI off of SPs. So why not just request them now? I do know they want to see usage however. They denied me until I really started using my Lowes card.
I rarely hear or see an auto CLI from GE... you can request every 4 months... it will be instant yes or no... if it says no keep hitting it each month until it gives you one then wait 4 months and do it again... but make sure you wait 4 months of usage each month... if you don't spend anything one month, I would wait 5 months so you would have 4 full months of use.
I have a GEMB Sam's Club CC and am wondering if "usage" counts as basically just using it one time a month. I only use this card at Sam's Club and I haven't been going there much lately, but I still charge at least one purchase a month on it.
I have two GEMB cards - Banana Republic and Lord & Taylor. I got both on February 2010 and within a year the BR card went from $400 to $1000, and the L&T card went from $600 to $3300. All have been auto CLIs. My usage is sporadic - I tend to buy a bunch of stuff at the beginning of a season and then pay it off within a month or two. But they've been great about CLIs for me, and I love the rewards and free shipping I get from being a "preferred" member on both cards.
