I'm just curious what people's experience is with the Amazon store card through GEMB. I have a Lowes card that just went from a $450 to a $1450 CL. We do a fairly decent amount of our Christmas shopping on Amazon, and I know from time to time they offer some good 0% interest deals so I'm entertaining the idea of applying. I'm wondering what people's experience is with regard to intial credit limti, if having another GEMB card like my Lowes helps, etc.
For reference-I'm just under 100k income, with sub 50% utility overall with a handnful of rebuilder cards and then a decent limt from Amex and a great one from NFCU-$16k.
Scores are all 660-670 range.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
mine went from $1400 to i think $1750, then $2250. i wanted to even it out & they raised it to $2500 about five months after the last CLI.
Mine went from $1500 to $1900, had it around six months or so. Your income is considerably more. FICO should be comparable.
They are like most other GE backed cards... not very hard to get... may start small based on Util... My experience with GE is they almost never say no once you get in with them but if your OVERALL Util on other accounts they will throw you $100-$300 increases every 4-7 months but if your overall util is down they seem lately to be doing CLI in the 1-4k range.... amazing for them I think!!!
I have joint Dillards Amex, started at $2200 in 2008, first increase $100, next increase $200 after being declined for the increase! had always PIF and passed a LOT of spending through, then about a year or two ago pretty much maxed it out and just sock drawered it and paid minimum... last month PIF, as soon as the payment cleared with GE I asked for increase and was declined.... less then month later it updated with CR and I asked for increase again and got an instant $1k increase!
Sometimes I feel like I know the answer of GE and then other times they are just weird but never a hard pull for CLI so can't complain to much about them.
Not to hijack the thread too much, but who do they usually pull? Chase denied me for the Amazon visa (not a long enough credit history to their liking), but since likewise I do at least 80% of my Christmas shopping on Amazon, getting their store card is pretty tempting.
