General Advice - What should I do to maximize the look of my credit as it stands?

As of 07/2013 I have 4 credit cards.

1.) Discover It (Applied 03/13) - $500

2.) Kohls Credit Card (Applied 06/12) - $300

3.) Best Buy Credit Card/Cap1 (Applied 01/13) - $600

4.) Capital One Secured (Applied 06/13) - $1500

Now of those cards, I only use the Capital One regularly. I do not carry a balance on any card but the best buy (currently a $250 bal) and I pay $60 each month (0 interest for 24 months). I am cosigned with my parents with the kohls card and my mom uses it every once in a while but it never carries a balance. And the discover I only use for gas which I pay off each month.

Right now according to experian I have a score of 666.

Unfortunetely, being the impatient 18 year old that I am, and was uneducated at the time, I have 10 inquiries on my credit in the last 7 months...But now I know that is bad.

Does anyone have any tips for me?

(Get any new cards, call the current cards and ask for CLI's, etc.)

I am a college student currently and employed making 19k per year.

I live at home so I do not have any bills. (No car payment, rent etc)

Thanks!

The 10 inq's and the low AAOA is affecting your score. No more apps for at least 6 mos

Okay thanks.

After the 6 months or more what card would you recommend that I go for?

I think that inquires after one year dont count for fico scoring...been wrong before could be in that...but lenders, cc companies can still see them if they look. Being 18 you are fine. Dont rush it. Dont apply for any new credit until all of those inquiries are at least a year old, and assuming you have no bad things on your credit reports, i would think you could be sitting good for some of the student cards or even someting like the chase freedom maybe, although it would most likely be low starting limits. If you get impatient it will only hurt you down the road....... Dang i enlisted in the army on my 18th bday, after having hitch hiked around the country for about six months. Ancient history...you got your whole life ahead of you. If i knew then what i know now lol..hell probably would have done the same things i did. Good luck witb it all.

That would depend on what you are looking for, cash back, travel, etc

Okay thanks! That helps a lot - I will not apply for anything for another year or so..

And probably just cash back, or rewards like my discover it card

Unless there is a new card by then, IMO Chase Freedom and an Amex BCE would be nice

You might look into getting a CLI from discover. I've read that they've recently changed their cli policy to every 90 days.

Also, it's not a problem to apply for multiple cards in one day. I did five on my last app spree. Of course, I'm not telling you to go for that many but just FYI - it's totally possible to app for more than one card on the same day.

Echoing what others have said, the Chase Freedom would probably be a good choice after the dust settles from your apps and INQs and your accounts age some. You will probably get a relatively low limit, and might have to recon. I was approved for $1k on a recon with a similar income and a thin file with 6 months of history with Discover.

You might also try for the Capital One Journey student card. Limit will probably be low, but it has 1.25% cash back and is meant for students so the lower income shouldn't be a huge issue. Other student cards could be a possibilty based on your needs.

Amex BCE ($15k), TE ($5k), BoA BBR ($600), Cash Rewards ($600), Barclays Sallie Mae ($6k), CapOne Quicksilver ($4k), Chase Freedom ($5.8k), CSP ($11k), Marriott (9k), IHG (12k), DCU ($6k), Discover IT ($6.5k)
TU - 4 INQ, EX - 7 INQ, EQ - 3 INQ
