Hello again, folks! I have a few questions for those who have Fingerhut, especially for those who had FreshStart and then graduated to the regular Fingerhut Advantage account.
My background with FH:
I placed my FreshStart order & paid my down payment on 8/3. I paid this off in about two weeks - almost as soon as my account reflected that I had a balance to pay.
I was then graduated to a Fingerhut Advantage credit account. I don't remember what day they actually graduated me, but the confirmation email confirming my new $300 CL (FreshStart was $180) arrived on 8/20.
Then I placed an order using the traditional line of credit for about $150. As soon as the balance showed up in my account and the system would let me make a payment, I PIF this amount, as well.
Here are my questions:
Thanks in advance for your help and answers! I'm so excited to see these TLs hit my CRs. (Yes, I'm prepared for the massive FICO drop for opening up four new accounts within a month... lol. They'll grow again with time.)
I don't remember the dates, but trust me, you'll get plenty of communication in regards to your account status. It became spam and junk mail easily.
You'll get credit increases regularly. I started at $500 and was over $3500 in less than a year. What I didn't like was they would raise my limit, but if I didn't use what was available, they would decrease it to what I did use. I didn't watch the bureaus at the time because my credit was so bad, so I don't know if my utilization was yo-going with it. Once I got my target and qs1, I kicked them to the curb.
Oddly enough, I just came back from picking my daughter up from school, and lo and behold... my first statement. Since I had zero idea how the billing cycle would work, it closed at a $0 balance. Will FH still report the open account/CL to the CBs soon? I've tried looking to see how long it typically takes FH to start reporting once the account opens, but I keep finding mixed results.
