Generous CLs?

So my bf pulled his scores today because he got curious with all my credit talk and decided to take a peek and see what his scores looked like.

TU 704, EQ 723, EX 707

His credit history is basically as follows (keep in mind I didn't see his reports so I don't have the exact info):

He's 25 opened a card when he turned 18 so it's about 7 years old, and aside from that single CC he's got about 30k in student loan debt.  He has ONE single baddie, a late payment and that was in 2004.  All his loans are several years old as well.

The CC had a $500 limit and since he was never concerned with it he never asked for an increase, but he got a letter last week saying they upped his limit to $2500.  The balance is around $200 on it so the Utl is pretty much perfect.

What I'm wondering is if it'd be good for him to open 1-2 more revolving credit lines in order to get a strong, and long (if 3-5 years counts as long considering his age), history in the books before we start looking into houses in a few years?

If that is a good plan, who would be the most generous with the Credit limits for his score range?

Thanks in advance (again),
Ja' Net

Re: Generous CLs?

Bank of America usually offers generous credit limits.  Initially, they may not give you an extremely high credit line, but they're known to give substantial credit line increases.

Re: Generous CLs?

Lately Citi seems to be very generous with CL's. I got two cards one with 5K and other with 12K CL.

Re: Generous CLs?

I concur with concord...Citi. And I _hate_ to admit, Chase can be generous with CL. I'm currently not on the happy-Chase list though. I used to be.

Re: Generous CLs?

My highest initial CLs came from Juniper
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Generous CLs?

Thanks everyone Smiley Happy I'll probably tell him to look into a Citi card first because they definitely seem to be pretty generous lately and go from there.

Re: Generous CLs?

Ja' Net............he may also want to check out his local CU. They are usually very generous. I have had  Chase and Citi  cards for many years, but my CU is far more generous with CL's.

Whatever route he chooses, good luck.
