So my bf pulled his scores today because he got curious with all my credit talk and decided to take a peek and see what his scores looked like.
TU 704, EQ 723, EX 707
His credit history is basically as follows (keep in mind I didn't see his reports so I don't have the exact info):
He's 25 opened a card when he turned 18 so it's about 7 years old, and aside from that single CC he's got about 30k in student loan debt. He has ONE single baddie, a late payment and that was in 2004. All his loans are several years old as well.
The CC had a $500 limit and since he was never concerned with it he never asked for an increase, but he got a letter last week saying they upped his limit to $2500. The balance is around $200 on it so the Utl is pretty much perfect.
What I'm wondering is if it'd be good for him to open 1-2 more revolving credit lines in order to get a strong, and long (if 3-5 years counts as long considering his age), history in the books before we start looking into houses in a few years?
If that is a good plan, who would be the most generous with the Credit limits for his score range?
Thanks in advance (again),
