Hi,
ive been reading about applying for chase cards around the board and have come across some stories about people who have opened up other accounts at the same time as their first chase card and then chase closing the card after the new account appears.
Can you not get a chase card and another card at the same time? If you are 4/24 got a chase card and then another bank card would they close your chase when the other card reports? Or is that if your getting multiple new accounts? One person said even three months after the chase card they got another bank card and chase closed on them.
It shouldn't be a problem unless there are more than just two new accounts. How old is your youngest account right now? How many accounts have you opened within the past six months?
The stories that you have read here on this board usually involve a bunch of new cards in a short period of time, not one Chase card and only one other card.
Op I also got a Chase card and Amex card within 2 days of eachother, no worries there. As they already stated... getting a Chase +1 other card is one thing, doing a 5-10 card spree involving Chase well, that's a whole other animal if you live to tell the tale.
I got CFU in January. Gold Delta the next week, soft pull/existing Amex. GreenCk offers in late March or April, I didn't apply because others were reporting they got denied for 5/24. Late May, more GreenCk offers... these were 5/24 safe. I got CSP & Prime. I should've gotten Freedom since Prime is not 5/24, but I shop Amazon a lot.
I'm gardening, so no apps after Chase. I don't need more cards, but I also don't want to chance Chase. 😏

I was wondering the same thing. I don’t plan on getting the chase now but next year I want three cards including chase reserve. I was thinking I would have to wait 6 months between each.
I think that's the best plan of attack. As long as your 5/24 status is in check, you can have the Chase Trifecta in about 13 months.

The scenario of Chase closing a CC after approval and issuance is "typically" in an app spree situation, multiple (more than 2) apps/approvals within a very short time. It may also be triggered if an individual goes on a "spree" within a short time after beginning with Chase. It is the rapid "credit seeking" behavior that concerns them and is at least statistically supported and increases their internal risk score for that person. Make no mistake, Chase is very risk averse, and will err on the side of closing your account. I say that not because I dislike Chase, in fact, I have Chase checking, savings, two CCs, and am about to open an individual brokerage account with them. I will also apply for a 3rd Chase CC once I am back below 5/24. I say this because anectdotally, this is what many on this forum have report and some have personally experienced.
In the situation you describe, I don't believe that risk is terribly high if at all. As usual though, YMMV.
Posts I've seen usually are an app spree, same or a few days. But... it can also be within a couple months. Since I heard there can be an issue, I wouldn't app in less than 3mo from Chase. IF I ever get to 5/24 or CreenCks.

What is considered a very short time? Weeks, a month, a few months.....?
