Getting closer to AMEX 61 day mark

Hello all,

I'm coming up to the AMEX 61 day mark. My current CL is 2k. 2k from AMEX is also tied to my highest CL from Citi. My current income is around 16k (student) with around 13k in assets. Overall credit utilization is 4% currently. I've funneled a few k through this AMEX card and paid it all off, except 40 dollars. What do you think my chances of getting a 6k limit are?

Amex would basically triple my highest CL. I feel like on my end I've done everything the best I could to position myself for their internal risk score. Without knowing fully how it works. The only dinger I have is recent inquiries (4), 2 of which are AMEX related to my account so I'm presuming AMEX is smart enough to disregard these. Should I aim for less than 6k? What do you think the odds of me getting it are?

Go for 6k. Worse they can do is counter you.

Don't chicken out. Ask for 6k. Also check for Amex's last SP on your Experian report if possible to see util at that moment. Btw I think you should pay that $40 before requesting 3x CLI.

Re: Getting closer to AMEX 61 day mark

I will. The reason it is there in the first place is I'm left waiting for two of my Amex deals to apply their statement credits. Convientely both add up to 40, I don't want to go through the rewards eing taken away nonsense because of having a credit balance on my account. Where do you guys see where Amex soft pulls you?

I really hope the worst they do is counter me, a counter would still make it highest CL, that would be idle. I've gotten stung by some denials. Plus, this account will be the one that gives me leverage to negotiate higher CL with my other accounts, so there's a decent bit riding on it. My Citi, BOA, and Discover will all be at the 6 month mark when I can go for the Amex 61 day mark, coincedence that I timed it out that way perhaps not Smiley Happy

I'm not exacly expecting the conservative lender (Discover) to lead the charge. Same with BOA and their toy limit cards. Actually probably won't bother with them, they already told me I have adequate credit (CL is less with them then discover).

I would go for six. As someone else said, they might just counter if they can't extend six to you.

Have you order you free annual credit report from Experian? If you did, there's a report number in the report that you can use to access it online and see recent SPs.

Read this thread: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/The-Definitive-Amex-3X-CLI-Guide/td-p/18110... It explains everything you need to know about Amex 3X CLI. MyFico is awesome lol
