Good Morning All,
So I have been trying to get in with Amex for several months and could never get a pre-qual on their site. Probably had something to do with my last baddie which i paid off last month. So I have been having to fly down to Fla more often due to Mom not doing well. While on the flight the stewardess announced 30,000 bonus miles if you applies for the Gold Delta Amex card on the flight. I thought....cant hurt. Was suprised when I was approved!! Guess the last baddie coming off made a difference.
So here is my question. I have read than once they have approved you for 1 card, its easier to get their other cards. Is this true? I would like to get at least one more card with them this year. I have a few which give me the basic 2% on gas and dining. I have 1 that gives me 3% on utilities. The Delta gives me 1 year free before the $95 year AF kicks in.
Which one would you recommend and what time frame would you give it before going for 1 more card. I would like to get a no AF Amex card and then cancel the Delta Gold.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Thank you all. That being said, I will not try for another Amex card for 6 months as I really dont need it at this time. I would like to replace one of my others with another Amex at some point. What is their data points on CLI time frame on new accounts?? I heard that they treat the customers well.
Thanks!

DO NOT CLOSE THE DELTA GOLD.
IF YOU DO YOUR TIME AS AN AMEX CARHOLDER MAY PROVE TO BE SHORT.
Wait for the annual fee to post then ask to downgrade to Delta Blue.
Even if whatever the Amex policy of that time is means you only get prorated annual fee refund you will still be better off long term.
Amex is pretty hard to establish business relations with I have noticed. But credit card companies are fighting hard for business, and some approve people just so they do not go elsewhere.
What credit limit were you given to start with?
Also, closing the card before the annual fee posts is probably not a good idea. Credit card companies have learned to notice this kind of behavior and your chances of growing your relationship with them may be cut short.
