Getting to Three

Greetings,

I am applying for my first credit card.  I am a student, and have been an AU on my father's Amex Blue Cash card for about 4 months, and this was reflected on the free credit report I looked at two months ago.

My question is, should I be applying for more than one card?  I understand that average age of acocunts is important, so should I be getting two cards right away so they can age together?  Or should I have one that I keep in good standing and then apply for one or two additional cards after several months?

Thank you.

Re: Getting to Three

No real hurry on this. You're in a position to be picky!

5 years from now, a few months difference in your opening dates won't matter that much. I'd get one in your own name now, let it report 6 months of perfect usage and payment history, keep the AU, and then add a card or two. You can spend the interim researching which card would make the most sense for you and your money management.
* Credit is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master. * Who's the boss --you or your credit?

Thanks!  That's perfect then, I can spend the interim both picking out a card and asking questions on these forums. *grin*
