To me it's always been the classic coveted American Express card. It has a lower annual fee and I don't think I can justify to myself or my wife the larger annual fee with as little spend as it would see.
If you can use the PRG airfare "extras" credit, then the net AF on PRG is $95...same as on the Green.
If you're making your decision based not on the value of rewards and perks but on ego or self-image, then keep in mind it may hurt when you see others use a Platinum.
As far as value, I think Platinum and PRG are the only personal charge cards worth bothering with, considering what ED and EDP offer.
@Anonymous wrote:Close: AmEx PRG, AmEx Platinum, Simplicity, Double Cash, Citi Checking+, RIP Sallie Mae, maybe JCB (been on the fence the whole time I've had it lol)
Downgrade: Sapphire Reserve back to Sapphire Preferred
Cut: BCP limit, Freedom limit
Open: New Sapphire Reserve (if 100k still available when I'm eligible in July), new AmEx Plat with 100k bonus, DCU (maybe)
I might keep Sallie Mae for those 1% BT offers, since I actually like them a lot. 15 months at 0% with a 1% fee is hard to turn down and makes it a very strong BT card. But we'll have to see if those stick around after the card conversion.
Just wonder how you expect to close CSR and AmEx Plat and re-open them again. Any chance to get the bonus??

I forgot to mention I most likely will close my BoFA 321 card. It's my oldest tradeline but it simply is useless to me..
I was able to PC mine to BBR in May. It's my oldest tradeline as well.

I haven't been on a plane since 2009 and may fly once this coming year and once in 2019, otherwise I have two small children which makes flying cost prohibitive.

The CSR was a product change and the AmEx Plat is the Ameriprise version

I'm in the same situation. With the MPX loophole I could make the math work (the PRG annual fee was effectively the same as the Green) but now that it's seemingly gone $195 is a bit steep if you don't fly (or plan to in the future).
I actually started with the Green (I didn't know better) then closed it to apply for the PRG a month later (with 50k MR point bonus). My AF will be in May, and unless I can make the math work some other way I'll either be applying for a ED and closing the PRG or downgrading to the Green myself.
Three Goal Cards for Me in 2017, though they may not seem like very high ranking cards.
1. Venture One or QS in March (Hopefully with WEMC benefits) - To combine with my current QS.
2. Citi Secured -- to get in with Citibank so that I can eventually get the Citi DC (have BK7)
3. BOA Secured -- would like to get in with them again. (Burned them in BK7)
4. Discover Miles -- for the 3% cashback for the first year
I haven't decided yet, but maybe one of these 5 at the end of the year:
Barclays CashForwad World MC
Discover (NHL card with the SJ Sharks logo)
Alliant CU
PatelcoPayback Rewards World MC
Unify CU with low APR

My buddy has the Discover IT cardw with the Sharks logo on it and constantly gets comments from cashiers anytime he pulls it out.
1. Chase Sapphire Reserve for myself and SO
2. Alliant CU prequalified offer with $400-$500 bonus
3. Another card with a single digit fixed APR less than 7 or 8%.
4. Anything with FNBO. I have longed to establish myself with them, and really wish I would have known about the 1.5% cash back 6.5% amex. Our house does get FNBO offers but they are usually not what we want, not be worth hindering 5/24
5. Permanent APR reduction with Amex on SPG and ED (at 17 and 15 respectively), Amtrak at 17, capital one at 25.49%, Discover at 17% (will have to wait till fall)
6. Possibly app for Amex Enhanced Biz Platinum due to 50% point rebate and 10 boingo passes, and upgrade my ED or app for EDP (these would be definites especially if CSR doesn't happen for me)
7. Figuring out if there is anything I have that I can close, or reduce CL on.
8. Waiting patiently for Alaska to offer an increased sign on bonus since they bought out Virgin. I would 100% do that, and even sacrifice some Amtrak CL to do it. Mostly fly non rev positive space but for long vacations when I need to get home quick, the added flexibility would be nice.
9. Or skip everything above but FNBO, and get the Mariott Biz 80k offer.
