Good Will Letters Work!

After waiting almost 4 weeks, GE/CareCredit finally responded and is removing a 60-day late from 01/2006 and several 30-day lates from 2005/2004.   Due to the age, I didn't think that it would make too much difference, but already seeing a 30+ score increase across the boards  (well, except Experian which posts like a snail).

Still working on WaMu - they declined my first request.   Sent another letter and hoping for the best.   That one is killing me - 30-day late in 01/2008.    I have been so careful not to miss any payments for a very long time and that one was a complete mishap on my part.

If they don't respond kindly, I will try again - this time writing the president of WaMu.   LOL.

Good job!!  I'm trying to get some old lates removed from a couple of paid auto loans.  Hope I have the same good luck!

Re: Good Will Letters Work!

If you look in the Scoring 101 thread stickied in the General forum it should have a link to samples.

Re: Good Will Letters Work!

Congratulation, NC Sue!

I'm in a similar situation, but it's been about 3 weeks for me, and I haven't heard back from GEMB yet. What address did you use for the GW letter? How did they respond (did they send you a letter confirming the GW deletion, or did the lates just disappear from your credit report)? Would you mind posting the letter (suitably censored, of course) here or sending it to me in a private message?

My situation is a little different, in that the single 30-day late was rather recent (Jan 2008), and I haven't used the account since (paid it off right after the late in exchange for getting some late fees reversed). Also, it's a joint account with my DG, and she was actually the one using it and (not) paying it. Smiley Sad

Thanks!
Bob

Bob - I sent a Private Message with the letter I sent.   As you can see, I poured it on pretty thick, but it worked.

HELP! NEED TO REMOVE 60-DAY FLAG!!!

How many good will letters does it take?  Do you have to dispute the inaccuracy with specific details or can you just politely ask them to remover it?

The nature of a "goodwill" request is that the information is technically accurate, and you are asking the company for a favor to keep you happy as a customer. If you dispute any details, you may put them off or confuse the issue.
