Hello everyone, I just recently got approved for the Amex gold card, and I'm also looking for a card that would pair really nicely with it. Any suggestions?
thank you!!

What do you spend your money on?
A Visa or Mastercard with no annual fee and 2% (or more) cashback for merchants that don't take AMEX.
There are multiple types of these cards, so a lot depends on things like where you bank or live (some are offered by credit unions with geographical restrictions or requiring military service/a particular employer), etc. More information is needed.
A lot of going out to eat and before covid, some travel here and there. And then just the normal things in general, like Wal-Mart and places like that
My choice is the BofA Premium Rewards card. With a brokerage account I get 2.625%+ back.
Really, any 2%+ Visa or MC with no FTF.
*FTF means foreign transaction fee. You don't want to pay one, as Amex acceptance outside the US is less than Visa or MC.

Can you define "pairing" more?
Are you looking for something in the same point ecosystem?
Or are you looking for a card for when Amex isn't accepted (my favorite ethnic food store doesn't take Amex)?
Are you looking for a general spend card?
Or something that has a bonus category you can use?
If you really want a paring card, you will need a metal one, but I doubt if any are especially good. Go for a paring knife instead.
