Goodbye CITIBANK secured !!

I had a CITI secured for the past 12 months. I received a letter from CITI saying it would remain secured for 12 more months.  Reason was my October payment last year was 7 days late although I had made multiple payments just about every other month.  I called manager and closed the account.  Will get my $500 deposit back. Not worth fighting about as I really did forget to pay it that month.  Honestly though they are a little crazy having given me a 9.5k CL on the Costco VI and a 2k CL on the Sears MC .  Wasn't worth my time to fight about a card with a $500 CL. The lowest in my portfolio. Lol.

Re: Goodbye CITIBANK secured !!

It obviously served its purpose with your signature now.  Co-brands are always different than direct lends.  $500 back in your pockey and a year of payment history on your reports and scores in the 700's.  Don't sweat it and pass on anything they offer in the future Smiley Wink

Oh that's cool though, looks like they are treating you good overall which is good.  Just the one little card, no worries.

Re: Goodbye CITIBANK secured !!

I find it odd anyone went for this, considering what Discover and credit unions were offering at the time it was launched.

Some wanted the Citi "relationship", back when that was a seemingly more popular priority.

Re: Goodbye CITIBANK secured !!

People probably don't put much thought into secured cards as they don't plan to keep them.
