AF for my CSP is coming in aprox 6 weeks and I won't be renewing.
I was initially excited about this card (years ago) but I never found the love. The Chase ecosystem never became appealing to me. Primarily I hate having to book through their portal when I can do better on other portals including travel partners that have through my employer. Hence the Chase rewards were not worth much and truly a PIA. I then kept the CSP another couple years thiking it was a cheap card to have because of the 50.00 hotel credit. Well, fast-forward a few years, I've yet to ever use that credit due to PIA and the rates through the portal not being competitive with other sites. Then I kept the card another couple of years to use for occassional personal rental car transactions (which was the only use the card saw) ....but I can't even justify that anymore -as the topic of "primary insurance" is complex and my AMEX cards can do the same, perhaps better, albeit with a charge.
Sorry for anyone who bothered to read the above ramble.
CSP is my only relationship with Chase and I wouldn't mind keeping the relationship alive.
My thougth is to PC this card to a card with no AF and ideallly keep the stuff (payment history and age) that matters to the credit monitoring folks. **Open to any wisdom on my goal of PC'ing to a no fee Chase card that will keep my age and history alive.
Sidenote, I'm getting flooded from Chase with pre-approvals for other cards, offers include decent SL and such ...and they include SUB. But I hate to open a new account. While tempting to go for a new pre-approved card for the SUB, -I really would like to age what I already have and not add a fresh account, I've gone a few years without adding a new account and am happy with my mix of cards and the credit bureaus seem to like that I'm not adding new accounts
PC to a chase freedom flex or unlimited if you want to keep the account or if you want to keep subs in play to also pc to the Sapphire with no AF, but that is kinda a worthless card for most. Or as you know just cancel the card or apply for a new card for sub if that is what you have in mind get approved ad move CL over to new card and close CSP.
CSP, even without travel, could have a net negative AF in the past two years ($15 quarterly credit on Instacart, $10 monthly credit on Gopuff --> expiring in this month, CDW rental coverage). CFF is a good PC option (no AF).
I agree with the other posters about PC'ing to the Chase Freedom Flex solely for the 5% rotating categories and no AF.
I don't currently have access to that portal, but the CSP has been my whale card since I got started here. I planned to app this year for it solely for access to the portal. Is it much different then what I currently have access to through my CFF for 5% travel, in terms of pricing? What partners do you use that make you feel like its not worth it to you?
Another vote for Chase Freedom Flex for a good earning card with no annual fee. You could even hang on to the UR points until you're ready to use them for travel and upgrade back up to the Sapphire.
id PC to the Freedom Flex too. You might nix the birdpoop scraper card though ahahahahaha your barclay's card. and I agree, thats all they re good for lol
PC to Chase Classic Freedom
known as "Chase Freedom Visa with Ultimate Rewards
Does the origin Visa Freedom still exist? That card would be good for a solid 5% CB for in-store Costco purchases for one quarter.
I recently got US Bank Altitude Reserve and I am also double checking whether I should keep CSP or PC it to Freedom (I already have one CFF).
Chase Freedom Visa with Ultimate Rewards
are the magic words
when you call reps
so you can use to buy things at Costco 5% cash back when quarterly category is wholesale
And one more thing
