I just booked a trip to go on a Safari in South Africa in December and I was able to get 7.5 cents per point value booking business class award flights on United.
i purchased 4 round trip business class tickets from Sao Paolo to Johanesburg for 360,000 United points. According to United the cost for the 4 tickets without using miles would be $27,361. This is by far the best redemption rate I've been able to get on my Chase points.
Now I just have to figure out the best way to get to Sao Paolo in business class from LA but getting the tickets to Johanesburg was the hard part, they never seemed to be available.

I am hoping to get some good value for my trip to far east next year, going to use some UR to transfer to United to fly asiana or ANA business to thailand should be around 5 CPP with fuel surcharges under 50 dollars i cant complain about that.

They just ran a promotion, which already expired, for flight to Asia only 70k one way, busines/first class in some route. I was able to snatch first class United from Houston to Narita for only 70 miles, which i think the best worth of UR points i can ever get, roughly 9cpp

hmm i wouldn't be flying till next year and are those flights on united or could it be used for their partners as well. If i can help it I wouldn't fly on any of the domestic airlines internationally. United, AA, delta i wouldn't want to fly 20+ hours on :-(

IWOL, what carrier are you actually flying on from GRU-JNB?
Call me a snob but American, Delta and United don't even come close to their international competition in terms of hard and soft product.
lol i basically said same thing haha. This is how i would fly , american - cathay, delta-korean/air france, united to ana/asiana/singapore

United+ana, its really depend on the route though, since i live in united hub, all flight to asia less than 15hours,and very comfortable flatbed. Ana service is wonderful
