Ok, I'm scheduled to close on a house on Friday and I want to plan out my app spree, if that's even possible, for just after that. I'd like to be able to get a washer/dryer and a couch. I'm coming to the wise masters to advice on which cards to app for.
Here are my details:
Salary ~$35k
AAoA ~1.5 years
Age of credit history is 3 years
tu 682 8 inq's 4 of those are from the mortgage co. 3 paid collections BK due to fall off in March '14
eq 664 5 inq's 3 of those are from the mortgage co. 1 paid collection BK due to fall off in March '14
ex 642 7 inq's 3 of those are from the mortgage co. 1 paid collection BK due to fall off in March '14
(just pulled these scores and info from myfico)
Currently only have a CapOne sec card with a $400 CL it was opened in Apr '13 always has <10% util
Also have student loans @ ~$43k currently in deferment for at least 2 more years. (working on masters)
I'm currently working full time and also a full time college student so student cards are an option.
My current thought is since my son is in the army to open a NCFU account and apply for a card there. Beyond that I'm not sure what the best plan is. I'd LOVE to pick up an Amex card, I previously had a green Amex back in the early 90s so being able to get a new one would be amazing for my AAoA. I'm not sure if I'd owed them anything from back then so that could be an issue if they hold a grudge and I'm assuming they do.
So wise masters of credit, what's a good plan of attack on apping?
get the NFCU while you can. you will get/potentialy get/eventually get an awesome limit.
not sure about your scores though, just saw them...
How old are those scores and I'm assuming all lender pulls?
The lender pulls are in my sig, the scores in the post came from this site about 45 mins ago. Not real sure why they're so different. Nothing's changed except for the accounts being a cpl months older.

The score are different because lender pulls are from May and your scores have grown....Yay
I would love to tell you to app that green you want but you EX score is still a little low....sorry
Amex is also not BK friendly
Yeah I'm thinking that the Amex will be an app in Apr after the BK is gone.
What's about a Discover IT? Maybe the student one?
Any other cards a possibility?

This one is easy for me...app in this order:
Lowes for washer/dryer-TU
NFCU- membership and nRewards if approved for that ask for a NavChek-TU/EQ
Discover -EQ/TU
IMO, score is too low for Chase or Amex now but in March you should be golden
Lowes was my first thought Lexie...GE is BK friendly
Any difference in apping for Lowes instore or online?
Assuming I'm approved should I automatically try to recon for a higher CL?

This is a solid plan OP
