It is best that they don't work.

No, really. Unless you actually plan to shop at ANY of these places.

No, I just want to see how creditors view my files so far in terms of pre approvals / limits.

The shopping card thing may not be the best route.  Have you looked into secure cards?  Those are better options IMO

Re: Guys, when did carts tricks started working for you after establishing credit?

Find whoever you bank with, see if they offer a secured card.  Bank of America does, Wells Fargo does, I believe Citi does, and Capital One does.  Either one of those choices would be much better than any shopping cart trick cards.  Especially now that it's a hard pull for what will be essentially a $200 toy limit.

And try to stay away from store cards unless it's something you'll use often.  Even then, 1 or 2 will work.

Never.  Why would I want a finger hut account?  I started with really low scores (563), and got a secured card from a credit union.  I hadn't even found this site yet, just watched a suze orman show with someone in same credit situation like moi.  11 months later, sent pre approval for sub prime card.  After 12 billing statements, the sub prime is cancelled, in October the secured card graduated.  I would never shop at fingerhut, would rather use cash back paypal debit with amazon prime membership (which I did for 6 years) than get store card.

JMHO, YMMV, etc
