HELP!! Ways to Meet Bonus Spend Requirements on Credit Cards

I have a couple of cards that I've been working on meeting the spend requirements on. All has gone well so far with them all except for the Capital One Venture. I was approved for 10k, and have to spend 3k in 3 months to get 40,000 travel miles. I have exactly two more months, and need to spend $1800 dollars. I can't pay rent with the card because my rent bill has to be paid with a money order (which would be considered a cash advance). My trusted friends and family are also meeting spend limits, so they can't assist me. Any ideas, anyone? Please help!!! Thanks

What about other bills? Cell phone, cable, even netflix could help.

And also, how should I go about doing a balance transfer on the $3k, from this card? The APR is a very ugly 22.9%. Smiley Sad I've never done a balanced transfer before

Yes, I'm paying those bills as well, but they still won't even out to $3k.

I've also just seen something about gift cards/ prepay cards. Does anyone have any experience with using those? I'll try to find more info on those as well. Thanks

I think gift cards (like a Walmart gift card) would be ok. A prepaid Visa/MC/AmEx gift card on the other hand, i've heard bad stories about people trying to buy those to meet a spending requirement and having the banks reverse bonuses and blacklist people for rewards churning.

Plus mentioning that sort of thing around here is very much frowned upon.

Ok, yes, I've just seen info on what you both just mentioned. I surely don't want to be blacklisted with any of the card companies, or get on a subject that's not allowed on the forum. I was just wondering about good ways/ ideas that the limit could be met. Thanks you all!!

Re: HELP!! Ways to Meet Bonus Spend Requirements on Credit Cards

Do you know any friends or family that need to make a larger purchase? Furniture, computer, etc?

You could simply go with them, pay with your card, and they can give you the money back.

If you can't find a way to meet the spend, next time it's probably more beneficial to wait to apply until you know you have enough expenses coming up to meet the spend, vs frantically trying to meet the spend. This is what causes people to overspend and overspending to get a bonus makes very little sense. Not to insult you. Just a future suggestions

I don't recommend going the gift card route but we aren't to discuss it here anyway.

The few trusted friends and family that I have, are meeting spend limits themselves, or not making large purchases, currently. I'll just see about paying some bills up ahead of time, to meet the spend, and then just do a balance transfer so I won't be stuck with that high APR. Thanks for your advice!!
