Ok so I decided to look at the AmEx cards and thought the BCE looked pretty good so I went through the pre-qual form and welp look below.
I like the BCE but it's still not the Visa I really want. (The single gripe I have with my Disco is the acceptance rate, though I've only hit that a few times where I have to use my *shivers* debit card.)
You can see my signature for a bit about me; my Disco is still secured but I'm hoping for a graduation this month. I do have 2-3 HP's on each CR. I do want to app for the Chase FU soon too. Though it may be wiser to wait for a year on my oldest account... but if I get this card it'll mess with my AAoA. Lots to consider.
My two questions:
1) Are AmEx pre-quals solid? (If it makes a difference, it says specifically 17.49% for me and not the 13.49% - 23.49% on the main page)
2) I'm not even 21, so would it even be honored?
Thanks all!

1) Amex pre-qualify is very solid. It was for me just a week or so ago. I have not read where someone was denied responding to an offer.
2) I think as long as you are 18.

You making it a harder decision My biggest reason NOT to do this is that it'll hurt my AAoA and therefore I'll have to wait longer to app for the Chase FU. Then again, AmEx may grow a bit with some SP's and I'll get a better CL from Chase.
Amex prequal is very solid. The great thing is if you are already a card holder and prequal for another amex card, there is no HP for the additional card. I think you will be fine. Good Luck!!

Have you tried Chase pre-qualifier? It too is solid. https://www.chase.com/prequalified

Good to know about the additional card although I don't see any other cards I'd be interested in. Funny that the only card I'm interested in is my only prequal...

Yup, tried it again this morning and nothing. I logged in to check as well and nothing. Maybe I'll stop in the branch later today and ask there before I take any action with Amex.
I also just realized I got a $150 offer instead of the standard $100. Interesting...

Op states that they are not 21
Do t you have to be 21 to get prequals? AFAIK, you can't get a valid prequal if you are u see 21
That's what I was trying to figure out! I suspect this is why I have none from Chase. I wasn't sure if that was pre-approval or prequal in the CARD act.
EDIT:
Wikipedia says
The Act also prevents credit card companies from mailing offers to consumers under 21 unless they "opt in"
I'm guessing filling out the form is opting in?
