HHI question...

What is considered HHI?  I think there are several of us with different ideas of HHI...  I'm asking because I have a live-in GF, would I consider her income in this circumstance?!?

Just out of curiousity - does HHI include parents income when a 18 year old is living at home and applies for credit...  If you have a roommate, do you include their income when asked for your HHI...

Or is HHI - the income of a married couple only?

Re: HHI question...

I consider HHI is income you have access to spend as you please.

When app'ing credit I would only include income that would be used to repay the debt. I never include CS income though those checks are made out to me.

My personal thought is that if two people are allowed (but not required) to file a joint tax return, then it is HHI.

Common law spouses - probably.

Children only if they are major contributors to expenses, under which conditions the HHI should really not arise.

Parents never

Room mates never.

Old men you picked up from the street never.

Some girl you met in a bar, never.

All the people at your high school reunion, never
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: HHI question...

I'm married, but I only reported HHI (and only 80% of that) on one card. The rest is just from my own earnings.

I report the income that I can use on payments, without having Long and Intense Discussions with DH! Smiley Wink

Re: HHI question...

Simple answer:
Whatever income you can prove and is yours (pay stub, tax return, etc).

If you can't prove it, and they do an FR on you, you're screwed

Re: HHI question...

My boyfriend and I live together and have a child together.  All the bills are under my name but he pays for half of them.  I include that portion he pays for the bills with my income when applying for credit cards.
