Hi everyone, went to home depot today to app as this store is having a 24 month interest free promotion and I am looking into purchasing a shed, the in store app was approved for $4,000.00. With this cl I had to hold back and not purchase a shed as my purchase would have consumed most of this cl, so thank god for this forum and a few threads that I have read, I ended up calling for a reconsideration for a cli, and I called the 1-866-272-0337 spoke with 2 individuals who asked security questions and were very nice, the last person was the head honcho credit analyst, I told him the cl that i was given and it would not be enough to purchase the item that I wanted and my cl/utilization would be affected, he asked me how much I wanted I stated $2,000.00. And so to end this story I was granted the cli, my cl now is $6,000.00 also he did not say or ask if he could pull a cr so I believe it was a soft pull, I guess Home Depot wants business
Does anyone think this is the number to call for a cli to avoid a had pull?
Hopefully it is I will keep this forum updated if it was a hard pull?
Also this credit analyst never questioned my other hard pull today for Lowes who pulled same report eq $4,800.00 cl given
I recently appd for and received the HD store card for $1500 after applying online. Before I even received or used the card, I went to the store and wanted a new washer and dryer for the new casa. I told the rep that I had a new account but I probably needed a CLI if I wanted to use it for this purchase. He made a call for me (don't know the number) and the rep on the other end also asked how much I wanted. I asked if he could double it and he said no problem. The only hard pull was for the initial app. I haven't studied my softs enough to know if it was there or not.
The one and only time they won't do a hard pull is when you call the same day you apply. Earlier this year i applied and recieved a 1000.00 limit, so i decided to give a it a shot when asked what i needed i said five grand, was told no problem. I guess i should have asked for more, since i had to call back for more any way and recieved a hard pull.
This is not true for most. I have been requested multiple CLIs on my HD card over the past 4 years and have never had a hard pull. If you do it online, and only the short form is requested, it is going to be soft. If the long form pops up asking for all sorts of banking info, etc., that will be hard. You can definitely get CLIs without a hard pull though.

DH requested CLI on line last month with short form and got hit with hard pull, so maybe there's not a hard and fast rule. Fortunately, he got a nice CLI (from $2K to $5K) and he didn't have any other inqs, but a soft pull is always preferable!!

You are better off calling them to inquire for an increase without a hard. They usually let you know whether they can give you a CLI with just a soft.
