Re: HSBC CLI?

The squeaky wheel get the oil.  Ask for what you want.  I also asked for them to waive my AF and they refunded me half, because I threaten to close.  So oatmeal beats nomeal.

Re: HSBC CLI?

I agree. Call and threaten to cancel, but be prepared to really do it if you get a grumpy CSR who just doesn't care. I have had my AF waived and free CLI this way. I really wanted to cancel but if it isn't costing me anything to keep racking up the positive history, I'm sock drawering it too and pulling it out for $10 every 3 months.

Re: HSBC CLI?

Does HSBC treat in such a way any card or only rebuilders?

Re: HSBC CLI?

Oooooooooo yeah!  If you threaten to cancel Orchard, be prepaired to actually do so. I got them in 9/07, 300 CL AF of 79.00.  I had gotten a CLI to 400 a few months ago, but still did not want to pay the AF since I had also gotten a few other cards with no annual fee.  A week before my 1 year anniversary, and with a 0 balance, I called to ask them to waive the fee.  The woman I spoke with said that they would not.  She did offer to reduce it by half, but I still was not willing to pay 40.00 for a 400.00 CL.  I requested a cancellation, and she was QUICK to oblige!

I really did not want to cancel the card, but in the long run I think it was the best thing to do.  I am still rebuilding and do not have major Cls, but my next lowest credit line is $1100.00 with no annual fee and my max is $2500.00 with no annual fee.  Especially since Orchard should still continue positively reporting to the CBs because I had a 0 balance at the time of closing, I figured I was in a pretty good position to walk away.  It served its purpose.  Consider what it is that you need/want the card to do for you now.. and weigh your options.

Re: HSBC CLI?

i didn't have to threaten to cancel.  i just called the number on the back of my card & asked.  it wasn't a great CLI, but it wasn't a hassle either.

Re: HSBC CLI?

I called the Orchard's backdoor # today and got a $100.00 increase. I asked if I will be charged a fee for the increase and the nice lady said that they no longer charge a fee.

This month is my card's 6 month anniversary. I have asked for a CLI  in the past and always gotten declined because I haven't had the card for long.  My card anniversary date is 7/15/2009. Did I get a premature CLI for the 6 month anniversary or should I expect another CLI  after 7/15?
