HSBC Card

I just applied for a HSBC card that I was shown as preapproved for.

I was rejected. Is there a backdoor number for recon? It looks like they only want a written application.

Thanks,

Did they provide a reason for the rejection?

Re: HSBC Card

Yeah they did,

NUMBER OF INQUIRIES WITHIN LAST 6 MONTHS
NUMBER OF TRADES
TOO MANY RECENTLY OPENED BANK/NATIONAL REVOLVING ACCOUNTS

In the last six months I opened

Cap1 - Preapproval thing - my first unsecured card
Mervn store card (for 15% discount they give if you use the store card)
Wamu - Preapproval ( i dont know why I applied this)

So those are new accounts and possibly inquires related to that.

My utils are less than 10% and PIF every month.

Re: HSBC Card

Wow, your scores are high. I would recon for sure.

What card were you trying to get?

Ofcource I will request them to recon, but I do not have the number to call for recon. All they ask is to write a written letter to do that.

I was wondering if there is any backdoor-recon number for HSBC.

Re: HSBC Card

Is it worth getting the card? I did some research (darn, I should have done before I applied) that HSBC is not so prime card lender. So i guess they can be very stingy in giving a good CL.

What do you guys think?

Re: HSBC Card

Well they started me out (last summer) with 750 dollars on the Cash or Fly MC that I have with them.  The card is now up to a limit of 2350 dollars.  I had 2 CLI's:  One for 600 dollars and the other for 1000 dollars.
