Unfortunately, HSBC is unable to approve your application due to the following reason(s): YOU ALREADY HAVE THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ACCOUNTS ALLOWED WITH HSBCIf you have any questions, please contact one of our Lending Services Representatives at 1-800-828-9538 or visit us online at www.orchardbank.com. Please note that you will need the reference number indicated above when you call.
OMG, I think you are now confused as well in this thread. This thread is about HSBC...
NOT ORCHARD BANK, NOT HOUSEHOLD BANK, NOT ETC ETC
I think what is causing all this confusion is the Orchard link that x9j4j posted in the middle of this thread. That should prolly be removed before more people app for Orchards thinking it is the actual HSBC card.
Ok I called they said after 18 months of my latest HSBC product I can re apply

BTW, congrats on the Discover. Not everyone can get that because it's by invitations only.

Hmmmm, although there might be invites for the HSBC Discover, I think that most people wind up with it because they app'd for a Discover Discover, didn't qualify, and were "offered" the HSBC version instead. I might very well be wrong, though.
HSBC is a huge bank based overseas and started in Asia. They entered the US and purchased many sub-prime lenders (Household, Orchard Bank for example) here even though they are a pretty prime bank everywhere else (Europe for example). Anyway, they also have banks for everyday things like savings and checkings so in order to get an official HSBC credit card is by banking with them. You used to be able to qualify for them and they had a pretty decent cash back card (2%) back in the day. The problem with all these other HSBC backed cards is that they are mostly subprime so offer low limits, ridiculous annual fees, terrible APRs, and will absoultely not CLI.

I agree with this. I've only heard of HSBC constantly mentioned as subprime here. We have a checking with them and of the reasons we chose HSBC is because their banks are all over Europe and they're definitely considered prime.
One thing I haven't noticed is anyone mentioning they have an actual HSBC CC on this forum. So I started wondering if they even exist for their U.S. customers...

The same thing happened to me. I was so upset. My things was, why pre-approve me then deny me? When I called customer service they would'nt budge when I asked them to remove the inquiry.
That is bad, I have one too I just noticed on my EQ report, I wonder if a letter asking for removal would help
