HSBC TOLD ME THEY WILL NOT BE GIVING CLI's TO ANYBODY FOR 6 MONTHS FOLLOWING THE 02/22/2010 CREDIT LAW CHANGES!
I'd really like to know if this applies, and if it is true or not.
Please post if you were able to get a CLI on any HSBC CC after 02/22/2010
Thanks!
You have to give them your first born to get cli anyway. Every request is a hard inquiry. They are the worst at 29%.
I found Orchard to be better except for a/f.

Don't know about the next six montgs thing, but 2 different CSR told me today that the system will not let them process CLI reuests.
I find it puzzling that they had 9 months plus to implement, they hiked every fee in the book they could find including, but not limited, the reimplementation of AF and yet, as2/22 of they are RE-eveluating their Customer Lending policies because of the CARD Act.
When they told you this, Does it apply to all HSBC cards? Best Buy Rewards Zone, BB Store card, HSBC Visa....................etc
They told me all portfolio cards!!!

That is some funny truth right there!

This may be correct for your personal experience, but is not a fact. (besides the fact that Orchard IS HSBC...)
I have had an HSBC Household Bank account, Orchard account, and Best Buy Reward Zone card.
Household has given me multiple CLI's without a hard pull, as did Orchard and BBRZ. My Household card is currently sock-drawered at $2k CL from an initial $300 CL, and a 19.99% APR from an original 15.9% APR, no AF. My Orchard account is closed, never had an annual fee, and ended at 15.9%APR. BBRZ tried to institute an AF and a 22.99% APR, which is when I gave them the boot as well, but was lucky enough to combine it into my Household account and raise the limit (again without an inq). Each person is evaluated as an individual so it is misleading to say that "every" request is a hard...
YMMV.
