HSBC-question

I read somewhere on the forum that HSBC could help as a starter cc.  Soo, I applied and they said I qualified, though they did not say how much, but asked for my bank routing number for the processing fee, I am nervous about doing this because I am not sure exactly what they are planning to take from my checking account.  Can anyone who has some experience with HSBC help me out with some advice?

Re: HSBC-question

I have an HSBC Orchard and so does DH.  My annual fee was $39, his was $59 (or the other way around).  It was clearly stated on the site - so in our case we knew.  Actually, they charged my husband, but billed me on my first billing cycle.  (I think I had an HSBC card years ago - that may account for the difference).  We really like our HSBC cards for building. Good luck!

Re: HSBC-question

From the HSBC website:

^Rates are accurate as of 7/15/09. The variable Customary APR applies to purchases, balance transfers (if available) and cash advances made by credit card check, and is between 7.99% and 17.99%, depending upon your creditworthiness. The variable Cash APR is between 19.24% and 21.99%, depending upon creditworthiness. All your APRs may automatically increase to the Default APR if you fail to make a payment to us when due or you exceed your credit limit. The Default APR is between 29.49% and 31.99%, depending upon your creditworthiness. The Minimum Finance Charge is $1.00. An Annual Fee between $0 and $79 and a One-Time Processing Fee between $0 and $49 will apply, depending upon your creditworthiness. The Foreign Transaction Fee is 3% of the U.S. dollar amount on transactions made in a foreign currency. We apply payments to lower APR balances before higher APR balances. These cards are issued by HSBC Bank Nevada, N.A. and serviced by its affiliates, HSBC Card Services Inc. and/or HSBC Card Services (II) Inc

Bottom line is: Who knows. I would give them a call.

Re: HSBC-question

thanks.  I did call them and they told me it is a one time processing fee of 19.00, and if the application is denied they will give me a refund.   I told them I would mail them a check.  It is a slower process but I feel better about it.  Thanks for the info.
