Has anyone used cap1 prequalification process?

What is the purpose of being prequalified for a specific card only to be denied once you apply? According to Cap1, I prequalified for the platinum card for people with average credit. They denied me. I feel even more frustrated because I checked whogavemecredit.com and there were many people with scores less than mine and baddies who got approved. I just hoped it would have been an approval so that it would have been worth the inquiry.

I would advise you to call the backdoor number for Cap 1 and do a reconn. I have heard some people have had success with reconning through the backdoor number. The backdoor number is posted in a thread sticky at the top of this forum.

the preapproval is based on relatively general info. so that when they actually pull and have access to your full report, income and housing data etc. they may find that you do not meet their criteria for the card.  be prepared a hard inq. on each cbr for your initial app. since they pull all three. for each app.  i had thought they did recon, sorry about that OP.
