Have a Cap1 Secured? Prepare to wait...

I realize this is some struggles one goes through when rebuilding credit, but their return policy is ridiculous. I have two Cap1 Secured cards and was wanting to merge all balances to one card (one is a $200/$200 card and the other is the $49/$200 card) I'm not really wanting to carry around two of the same card so yesterday I called to close the $200/$200 card. I initially asked if they could just take my deposit and internally transfer it to my other card. No policy restricts them... Fine. If I pay my balance in full and you close how soon will I receive my deposit so I can add to the other account? We can take payment close today and once payment clears get a check out to you, just call back tomorrow to start the process. I call back today miraculously their policy is to wait to billing cycles to mail your deposit.

If you have a secured Cap1 which will never unsecure my suggestion would be to pay any bill near the limit call to close and let them use your security deposit to cover the remaining balance. I love how we are expected to pay them with in 30 or less days without being charged astronomical interest, but they can pay us in 60-90 days while paying us punitive interest. On top of the fact I get a rep nearly every time that cannot pronouce my name correctly and get called "Misser" (like the lady from Family Guy) Cap1 is teetering close to Bank of America land for me.

FYI, when I closed my secured card, I received my deposit within 2 to about 2.5 weeks. I think its their policy to say it can take up to two billing cycles, but it is much sooner than that. Hopefully it doesnt take too long for your deposit to arrive.

How recent was that.

I just got my check back last week.   I had to wait over 2 billing cycles.

I charged mine close to the limit and closed it right after closing.   They applied the depoist to the balance right away, so I only had to wait for about 10% of the total deposit.

Back in June or July. I have a zero balance on mine. But my deposit was small, and I havent used the card in a while. Maybe thats why they sent it so quickly, didnt have to wait too long for everything to settle down with pending charges etc.

I hope my experience is the same as yours, I was initially told they would send it back to me in 2 weeks. My call dropped from that English speaking rep and when i tried back three times I got a foreigner. I don't despise foreigners and this is not an assault on their role in customer service but the first person I spoke with was much more educated on the issue, the other just read off the screen. I really just want to deposit it again with them to get a higher credit limit so I can make purchases over the holidays.

Anyone else have experience with this? My card will be a due for an AF in feb, and I might just run a balance and have them apply it instead of waiting 8ish weeks for a check
