Heads Up on Best Buy CL

Has anyone had this kinda experience from BB after CR approval CSR told me that Best Buy has 2 credit plans as follows: 1-CL $8002 if used within 14 days you could double your purchase amount up to 16K, If you had a CL $10002 it would double to $20K if used within 14 days. I called BB talked to CSR he confirmed the same thing the store CSR said basiclly BB credit is setup on a two Tier system I am assuming the Tiers are split at some point on your credit score. I do not have any facts just a educated guess. May be of some interest to others.

Re: Heads Up on Best Buy CL

Is this the store card or the MC? and I'm confused about the $8,002 and $10,002 CL's. Although I suppose it's not any stranger than my $1,212 Sears MC CL.

I've got a tier A store card, and there was no mention of this.

Re: Heads Up on Best Buy CL

Okay this is what I got the best buy store card Tier 2 CL 8002 correlates to 8000 x 2 =16K - or you can get theTier 1 CL 10002 x 2 =20K  will apply if either is used within the 14 day time frame. The Rewards Zone MC  I have has a standard revolving CL of 10K.

Re: Heads Up on Best Buy CL

You've lucked into something good, then! I just got off the phone, and the CSR told me that BB cards aren't eligible for a CLI for 45 days. I like your CSR better than mine! Smiley Very Happy

Sorry to here that it"s kinda like rolling the dice you never know until you do. The thing that I realized, when it comes to dealing with people your outcome sometimes has a lot to do with what kinda day that person you are talking to is having that day.

Re: Heads Up on Best Buy CL

My son had scores around 710 (they pulled TU on him) when he apped last Thanksgiving, but he's young and had a thin file, with old lates on one account. He got $1000, although I think that they've raised it since then.

I have EQ 702 when I ummm, accidentally applied the other night. I have multiple, mostly minor lates, with one 30-60-90 that is over 2 years old and low util. I got $2500 on the store card.

One nice thing about store cards for electronics and home building supply stores is that since their toys are expensive, they tend to authorize higher CL's. This is on store cards, not necessarily on co-branded store/bank cards.

I think I've read posts about $1K CL's with 660's and so, depending on what's going on with reports. Check out whogavemecredit.com, although it can be hard to untangle the store cards from the MC's.

edit to add: it's Tier A with BB store card. I had no clue which I had, but they told me my CL (typical wacko store card CL, 20-point-something.) I hunted down the terms and conditions, NOT EASY!, and it said that Tier A is prime plus 14-something, so I figured it out that way.

BTW, the difficulty in finding the T&C's online is a bad omen for how HSBC works! Secretive little buggers. Smiley Mad

Re: Heads Up on Best Buy CL

Got Ya good strategy if you are selling expensive merchandise I can see to were its in there best interest to give you ample buying power. Its puzzling to me how the whole credit thing works some people gets more than others while at times it seems scores, income, etc... has very little bearing on who gets what and how much they get . whats your thoughts on this.
