Thats a hell ot of points. Amex
Thanks everyone, I just applied for Nationwide they approved don't know how much, Also instantly approved for Office Max Visa Signature for $10K but I heard they wont put the CL since its a signature!!! I sure hope Nationwide gives me a good amount as I am scared about my scores dropping as a result of "closed by grantor". I wrote a rather nasty letter to them, but now idc I think after reading so many post on this subject with AMEX, they actually are detrimental to your report, canceling cardholders that have been with them for 20 years!!! Does anyone really keep I sure would like to know the avg relationship with current clients. When the dust settles I feel AMEX will not be the Prime creditor issuing cards, not even the Black Card. We are moving toward a Cash Economy, and UBS AG/Goldman Cash//Morgan Stanley will end up having the most coveted cards, co-branded with issuers but AMEX will not be the "prime" card. Anyone can get one, but be careful you never know when they will kick you to the curb for any reason! Sorry for the dissertation but again Thanks and any feedback as to my Scores as a result of AMEX? Also I am looking into Penfed, I told them the situation the CSR said with my scores they could do a "hefty" line. Have to look into it more. But I don't like the 2 inq on TU and 1 on EX (Office Signature US BANK) I hate INQs....So don't know if I should even app for anything!
So sorry to hear that AMEX is at it again! Read my post, they did same thing to my friend while visiting me during the summer. They don't care about you at all! She got a couple of new cards, as have I.
Id say with your scores, and UTL you can get any card so don't worry! I think one more INQ will not hurt you, if you do decide to apply one more time I would go with the Merrill Lynch Total card. It has been my old faithful for ever, its issued by FIA (BoFA). Though many have said BOFA is not stable, I have never had a problem whatsoever with my Merrill Card. Your right, this is a cash economy, and will be for the next 4-5 years. AMEX was never special, I see one and means nothing! They are garbage!
So if your gonna do it, app for Merrill!!! Open a brokerage account before hand, put some money into it and then get the card! You will love it!
FYI-like the poster before said, GET THOSE POINTS THAT ARE RIGHTFULLY YOURS!!!! Dont back down, you made them money with merchant fees if you racked up 20000 membership rewards, they must have made a killing on those merchants you swiped it at! GET WHAT BELONGS TO YOU!!!
This post reaffirms the reason why I would NEVER do business with this company. They seem to think that they are above everyone else and that people NEED them. They are just a credit card company that issues plastic for people's convenience and that they can make some $$. There are plenty of other companies out there that do the SAME THING! I would obtain cards from other banks and never look back. As far as your points go, I'd write a nice fact-filled letter to the BBB about your experience and the fact that AmEx stole those rewards from you. They might respond to that... Good luck to you my friend.

FTR, It is not just score, Pen fed doesn't like EQ inq OR new accts. don' t let amex paint you into a reactionary corner, esp. since you clearly have other excellent options.
Ideally Pen Fed should be your first app before any others, definitely don't want to app anything else until you decide if you're going for PF.
App sequencing can be crucial for best result with Pen Fed, they are credit sticklers, and are known to summarily deny high scoring applicants if they see anything they don't like.
Thanks again to everyone, and yes they are scum! Score I didnt end up apping on your advice, I am going to let the 2 cards I was approved for age, Discover said in a month they are requesting the CRA TU to drop the INQ. bringing my TU to 1 and EX to 1..Thanks I am just going to be researching cards and in 3-4 months app for a new one, most likely Citibank.
No Merrill!!!! GL haha did you get your rewards? Keep me posted
AMEX likes to see lots of usage and obviously PIF every month on the charge cards. Never roll over a balance. Never be late. Pay on time. If you follow the basic rules, they will treat you like gold. I use my AMEX for everything, probably spending about 4k monthly on it. I have never heard so much as a peep from them regarding anything and they always go above and beyond with customer service.
Sorry you had a bad experience with them.
Ya well everything you said to do I DID. Ran 6-7K thru my charge card monthly NEVER EVER CARRIED a balance, Was with them for nearly 3 1/2 years...how long have you been with them? I saw your older post when you had bad credit, I guess they think your special.
USBank usually reports CL on there signature card. Not sure if they will treat the office max card different then there regular signature, but my limit has always reported
