Hello and may need advice on a recon

Hello everyone. Going to make this  my intro and ask for some advice while I'm at it Smiley Happy

I'll try to be brief but I tend to be long winded. Had a BK back in 98, completely off reports now of course. In 99 Cap1 started giving me unsecured cards. Over the next 3 years I got a total of 4 with them. Used them heavily, never missed a payment, carried a high balance most of the time. Fast forward to 2011, I started working on paying them off one at a time. 4/11 Chase sent me a pre-approval for their Freedom card and I was approved. Used that as my primary card always PIF. Middle to end of 2012 I paid off the last of the Cap1 cards and they stayed in the sock drawer. Dec. 2013 I closed one of the Cap1 cards because it had a $5/mo. fee.

On the 15th of this month I decided that the 3K limit on my chase card wasn't enough in case I really needed it for somthing. Paying twice each month to keep the util low on it was a pain as well. I had gotten an auto-CLI of 1k from them in Sept. 2013 so I didn't want to ask for another so soon. Saw the offer for Chase backed Amazon Visa with the $50 gift card added on approval and went for it. Instant approval with a $500 limit. I was disappointed to say the least. Looked around some more and on the 20th decided to apply for the Barclay Rewards World MasterCard. Instant approval for $6900. Great, that was what I was looking for.

Requested a CLI via luv button from Cap1 and declined for non-use/no recent payments. That's fine, I wanted to get my FICO and a copy of one of my credit reports. They checked EQ and it's 795. With this new information and still on the high from getting approved for the World MasterCard I applied for a Citi Dividend card and a Duck card. Instant denial on the Citi, still waiting on the letter. And 7-10 day message on the Duck card.

Now, getting to what I may need advice on and why... I should have taken more time to look into Barclay before applying for their card. I am concerned that there may be some AA as a result of the Inquiries around the same time as getting that card and the Amazon Visa that hasn't started reporting yet. I also don't know if I'll get approved for the Duck card (I'm also a little worried about my information on my application since I read about accounts being frozen and such but that's a different matter) and to top it off, my boyfriend added me as an AU on his Chase Freedom card and it just started reporting and looks like a new line for me. So, they'll see my Amazon card, his card, the extra inquiries and his card has a $14k limit and about 2% util at the moment. It pretty much doubled my available credit from that one alone.

So, if they CLD me or simply close the account thinking it's too risky now from the new accts. Should I just recon and explain that the $14k Chase is just an AU and I'm not responsible for it? Maybe I'm just over-reacting and nothing will come of the new accounts/inquiries. According to Barclay, my TU FICO is 800 when they started showing it in my account. Cap1 EQ is 795 (from Dec. 2013 info), my income is only $23k/yr. and my AAoA is 9y 1mo before the Amazon Visa is added on, no baddies. One other question, when an AU account is added to my credit report is there any indication that it's just an AU? I know FICO score factors it as if it were my own line but I'm wondering if there is a notation or anything on the reports from the CRA themselves.

Turned out very long post and this is me trying to be brief Smiley Happy I've never been good with recons so any suggestions on how to play it if one is needed would be helpful. Thank you in advance and thank you to everyone that posts all the helpful information on all the threads here. I am kicking myself for not reading though here before looking for new credit.

Re: Hello and may need advice on a recon

1. Citi denied with a 795 for what reason? Id try to recon through exec office... customer service can be dreadful.

2. I would send email to capital one exec office about CLI and maybe product change to Quicksilver or Venture

3. You could recon the chase Amazon but have you got the card, that might have been the instant temp CL and the actual CL will come with card (Zappos is that way too)

4. I wouldn't worry a bit about Barlcay, it seems to be very random/individual sometimes of who is effected by INQ's or new accounts after opening a Barclay... they are more concerned about util I believe.... I opened at least 6 cards after my barclay and never had issues. i have seen some open 2 and have issues, so I tend not to worry about something like that because I don't want to bank with them if they control how I run my finances related to applying for other credit if it's better for me.

5. I would sure think you would get the Duck card... they just take a bit since they manual process.

Was Citi included in your BK? If you had burned them previously, chances are you might still be blacklisted.

Otherwise, it could have been due to all the recent inquiries you have gotten. Citi can be a bit quirky if this is your first account with them.

Wait for the letter before calling.

Lenders can see that you are AU on your CRs. Don't worry about that. Some lenders do not factor in AU accounts at all in their considerations process as well.

JPMorgan Palladium (100k), AmEx Platinum (NPSL), AmEx SPG (46k), AmEx BCP (42k), Chase Sapphire Preferred (47k), Citi Prestige (31k), Citi Thank You Preferred (27k), Citi Executive AAdvantage (25k), JPMorgan Ritz-Carlton (21k), Merrill+ (15k), US Bank Cash+ (22.5k), Wells Fargo (12k), Bloomingdale’s (12.4k), Chase Freedom (5k), Discover IT (5k).

Re: Hello and may need advice on a recon

Thank you for your response.

1. I'm not sure why Citi denied me yet, I haven't received the letter with their reasons yet.

2. I did get a PC of one of the cards to a QuickSilver One card via their "change your features" option on their website. I have been thinking about email EO about all 3 of the cards to see about PC to ones without fees at least and CLI possibility.

3. I have the actual card now and it's still at $500. I may call them on it since I already took the inq to get it.

4. Thank you for sharing your experience with Barclay.

Re: Hello and may need advice on a recon

I honestly don't remember if I had a Citi card when I did the BK. I was the typical young and stupid about credit applying for everything type. Trying not to do that again.

Thank you for clearing that up about AU accounts.

Think I may garden for a year after all this plays out.

Got the denial letter from Citi today and the only reason given is too many recent inquiries. I won't recon on that one and just wait until next year when I re-evaluate my credit situation and decide then if I still want one of their cards.

I did call Chase last night to ask for a recon on the initial credit limit but was told that it would be handled as a CLI request and they would do another HP so I told them no.

I had made a slight mistake in my initial post. the EQ FICO that Cap1 stated was 792, not 795. Got the official CLI denial letter today. Misread the tiny lettering on the pdf I viewed online before.

Still no word on the Duck card but I expect it will be a while with all the fuss going on over there right now.

Thank you again to you both for your insights.
