Help! Lowes app rejected, told me to apply again?

I applied online for a Lowes card on 4/22.  On 4/26 I received an email saying I was rejected because they could not verify my identity (Which I'm pretty sure is because I just moved).  I called and they said to go to a store where they could verify me and they would be able to reprocess it.  When I tried, the store had no idea what I was asking them to do and couldn't help me.  I called again and spoke to a manager who said that if I reapply within 30 days it wouldn't affect my credit since it would be the same bank running the credit check. 
 
They also told me that if I had called within 2 days, they would have been able to transfer me to someone to verify my identity over the phone.  But I did call on 4/22 and they said there was nothing they could do over the phone to give me any kind of status, just to wait until I got the letter in the mail...so I didn't call again.  They also told me that an underwriter should have called me, and they only call once...but they couldn't find a record of anyone calling, and I did not have any messages on my machine.
 
My question is, is it true that it won't affect my credit if I reapply within 30 days?  I thought that was only true for mortgages and car loans.
 
I really appreciate any advice on this!

Yikes, what a mess!

We're starting to see CCC's de-duping repeat applications during a set time period, so that is quite possible. What they would do is a soft on your report, instead of a hard, to make sure that nothing had changed in the meantime. (So make sure to keep everything squeaky clean.) Sounds like you need to get the name of one of these specialists who have admitted that they didn't follow through on their end, and follow up specifically with that person.

It does sound like this ought to work out in the end, once they establish that you are who you are. Since you've got the hit for the inq already, I would keep working this until you get the card. Good luck!

Based upon experience, you will have to reapply. SORRY! They do not do recon for this. If you are wanting a Department Store / Home Store card, you are best to use the store and apply in person. An additional precaution would be.....DO NOT USE A CELL PHONE! Use it as your secondary number. You want a landline as your primary.

I just had this happen with GEMB/LOWES and GEMB/WAL-MART...HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME YESTERDAY........

I am out of my mind at the moment. Back in January I applied for a LOWE'S Consumer Card and a WAL-MART Store Card. They denied me. I wrote to them to request reconsideration and they sent me blank applications back saying, "Thank you for inquiring on our cards. Please use the enclosed application for applying." Never was the reconsideration addressed. Of course I *Bed those.
Well, I was at LOWE'S today getting some cement for extending the back patio. I thought, why not try. I know that some people have better luck IN THE STORE and by using a LANDLINE PHONE. I had used a cell phone before. Guess what?????

LOWE'S "APPROVED" CL: $6,500 I had to call and go through Lexis-Nexis....BUT I PASSED AND WAS APPROVED.

Well, I went to WAL-MART shortly ago. Guess what?????

WAL-MART "APPROVED" CL: $400 I had to call and go through Lexis-Nexis.....BUT I PASSED AND WAS APPROVED.

This is absolutely amazing. They wouldn't have me and now they WANT ME! Needless to say, I will be getting that FENCE added on here at the house now.
HEHEHE.....KEY THOUGHT: APPLY IN THE STORE, USE A LANDLINE NUMBER, USE YOUR CELL PHONE AS A SECONDARY, AND APPLY

I should change the name of the thread from Walmart cant ... to GEMB cant verify my identity.  Lowes, Walmart, Chevron...  it is all the same bank.  I called the number on the Chevron site just to find out my app. status.  The CSR immediately transferred me to a supervisor who began asking me questions.  The first thing she asked me was if my phone was a cell or LAN.  I have a digital phone, which she said was OK.  It seems that a lot of people are getting the identity verification problem.  I am calling them back today.  The woman I spoke to told me that when I app for the Walmart again to call before I got the security questions screen.  I did not get the screen this time, but I did get the same 7-10 response.
 
If you want, ask Lowes to take the application on the phone next time as you have heard that a lot of people are having the same problem.  You might want to go to Chev's page and go through them.

Thanks everyone for your help!  I definitely will be applying in person the second time.  The supervisor I spoke to told me I could apply over the phone, but when she transferred me to someone who could do it, she said they don't take apps over the phone.  I haven't gotten the same answer twice from at least 4 people!
 
I did use my home number, not a cell phone.  I do have other GEMB cards...something else that might have caused the issues was if I included my middle initial on a different account but omitted it on the Lowes app.  On the online application, I never got a security questions screen.

Call 877-294-7880.  Someone may answer and say.. Chevron.  Just asked to be transferred to someone who can take your application over the phone because you have having verification problems.  I have called them twice and got approved for Chevron and Walmart when there were verification problems.

I tried calling that number and was on hold for 30 minutes or so.  I gave up and went in the store and was approved with a 2700 CL!  It's actually my highest limit so far! Every card I get is a little higher...  Smiley Happy
