I made sure, throughout the entire process, to remain calm & collected when speaking with their agents so this could not have been a factor as I was the definition of Miss Congeniality. While I know they have every right to do this was just wondering if you've seen cases of this before or is my situation an anomaly?
Oh well, I've cried enough over split milk so time to move on.
I assume that the 3 previous late payments don't help, even if they are unrelated to this incident. The perceived risk goes up so they are much less willing to cut you a break
How did updating a payment method trigger an actual payment?? And I know with Citi once u process a payment, ur balance instantly updates to the amount u paid and a banner appears confirming the payment so that’s not something one can easily miss. Depending on the time of payment, if u were really proactive u still could have been able to cancel the payment from your end online and over the phone with an agent. The only way that won’t be possible is if u let plenty of time pass and it got to the processing stage. Anyways once u get an answer from Executive, it’s pretty much set in stone and u have no further recourse cos they’re the last chain in the escalation resolution process
its a business world they don't know you and you don't know them your ways of handling accounts and making payments is you identity for them make sure twice for what you click or what ever you update always read twice the digits /codes/checking accounts number /routing numbers /dates /amounts/days /everything once you sure than click the radio button no room for error....just my humble advice..
Thanks but there isn't anything more to the story. Clearly I was multi-tasking too much, late at night and not properly paying attention when I went to change my autopay. The large payment had already posted and had nothing to do with this transaction. The payment screens automatically populates with the next payment due amount and clearly I didn't pay attention when I was making other changes. Won't make that mistake again.
