Hi,
I had 0% APR for 12 months with the Bank of America Travel Rewards Card on all purchases until May 9th.
My statement balance on May 9th was $1300, due June 6th. I paid off the entire balance on May 27th, but continued purchasing stuff with the card after the new billing cycle.
I looked at my statement today and have been charged $13.50 in interest.
I probably don't understand how interest works, but in the terms and conditions, it clearly says "Your due date is at least 25 days after the close of each billing cycle. We will not charge you any interest on purchases if you pay your entire balance by the due date each month."
Could somebody explain this to me? Is it possible to negotiate with BoA to remove these charges and how do I avoid this in the future?
Thank you.
If I understand correctly this would be interest on balance after May 9th, so I"m thinking balance needed to be paid by the May due date instead of June. at least that's the way I have done mine in past...They have a thing called trailing interest..as I found out the hard way once...
Maybe others will chime in to give us better understanding of how this works....

With an existing promo you do not have a grace period and you will be charged interest on all purchases from the date of purchase (in your case after May 9th).
Once the balance is $0 for an entire cycle the 25 day grace period will kick back in an dremain as long as you PIF byt the due date each cycle.
Thanks for your response.
I called BoA yesterday and it was indeed a trailing interest.
Lesson learned- contact bank beforehand to ask them by when exactly I need to pay in full after a promotion to make sure I don't get hit with interest.
Good to know. Thanks for sharing.
